All writings and documents provided to the Teen Council regarding the agenda items are available for public inspection
at the Arroyo Vista Recreation Center public counter located at 4550 Tierra Rejada Road during regular business hours.
The agenda for all regular Teen Council meetings is also available on the City's website at www.MoorparkCa.gov

TEEN COUNCIL
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
February 1, 2023, 5:00 p.m.

1. CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 5:16 p.m. by Chair, Jaynie Jindarat.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by member, Capri Alva.
3. ROLL CALL:
Present: Capri Alva, Abraham Jeong, Melanie Jimenez, Jaynie Jindarat, Arnav
Magadala, Everly Moore, Maribel Rodriguez, Sahil Sampangi, and Jade
Yakel.
Absent: Owen Abilleira, Riya Argawal, Grace Chandler, Erica Chen, Peyton
LitbergFrank, and Parker Rowley.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT:
None.
5. DISCUSSION / ACTION ITEMS:
A. Upcoming Events in 2023
a. Teen Dodgeball Night — Recreation Supervisor, Victoria Peterson, gave
a recap of the event and encouraged Teen Council to attend the next
dodgeball event as well as promote the event with the Teen Council's
various social groups.
b. Valentine Skate Night — Recreation Supervisor, Victoria Peterson, gave
a recap of the event and encouraged Teen Council to promote the event
with the Teen Council's various social groups. She also asked that Teen
Council members attend to assist in the set up and clean up of the
event.
c. Easter Egg Hunt — Recreation Supervisor, Victoria Peterson, gave a
recap of the event and encouraged Teen Council to promote the event to
other teens as a volunteer opportunity, since this is a very busy event.
Teen Council members gave their volunteer time commitments and said
they would begin asking their friends to attend.

d. Moorpark Earth Festival — Recreation Supervisor, Victoria Peterson,
encouraged Teen Council to be present at this event to assist with the
set up and clean up of the event. She and Teen Council members
discussed ideas for an activity booth for Teen Council to run. Ideas
included rock painting and take-home seed bomb crafts.
B. Teen Council Event in 2023
a. Recreation Supervisor, Victoria Peterson, spoke with Teen Council to
check -in on plans for Teen Council to create their own event. Event
ideas were discussed; it was ultimately decided by the Teen Council
members who were present that due to the term coming to an end in a
few months, it would be better if Teen Council took more of a lead role in
assisting with the next upcoming teen event, rather than creating an
event from scratch. The next teen event will be the Teen Dodgeball
Night on May 13, 2023.

1. CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 5:17 p.m. by Chair, Jaynie Jindarat.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by member, Owen Abilleira.
3. ROLL CALL:
Present: Owen Abilleira, Grace Chandler, Melanie Jimenez, Jaynie Jindarat,
Peyton LitbergFrank, Arnav Magadala, Everly Moore, Sahil Sampangi,
and Jade Yakel.
Absent: Riya Argawal, Capri Alva, Erica Chen, Abraham Jeong, Maribel
Rodriguez, and Parker Rowley.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT:

5. DISCUSSION / ACTION ITEMS:
A. Event Recaps
i. Teen Dodgeball Night — No Teen Council members attended this event,
so Recreation Supervisor, Victoria Peterson, gave a recap of the event
and reminded the Teen Council to attend the next dodgeball event since
they asked to take a lead role in the planning and execution of the event.
ii. Valentine Skate Night — No Teen Council members attended this event,
so Recreation Supervisor, Victoria Peterson, gave a recap of the event.
B. Upcoming Events
i. Easter Egg Hunt — Recreation Supervisor, Victoria Peterson, discussed
the importance of volunteering at this event, and discussed ways to
promote the need for volunteers at the high school and middle schools.
Teen Council signed up for volunteer times and said they would begin
asking their friends to attend.
ii. Moorpark Earth Festival — Teen Council signed up for volunteer times.
They again discussed ideas for an activity booth for Teen Council to run.

iii. Teen Dodgeball Night — Recreation Supervisor, Victoria Peterson,
shared that she spoke with the sports coordinator, Andrea "Andy"
Moncada, about tasks that the Teen Council could begin working on to
assist with the Teen Dodgeball Night on May 13, 2023. Tasks included:
creating some graphics to share on social media and flyers, coming up
with a new theme or tagline for the event, and creating clean music
playlists. Teen Council members were encouraged to begin working on
these ideas and come up with other ways to enhance the event.
