TEEN COUNCIL
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
March 15, 2023, 5:00 p.m.
Arroyo Vista Recreation Center,
4550 Tierra Rejada Road
1.CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 5:09 p.m. by Chair, Jaynie Jindarat.
2.PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by member, Abraham Jeong.
3.ROLL CALL:
Present:Owen Abilleira, Capri Alva, Grace Chandler, Abraham Jeong, Melanie
Jimenez, Jaynie Jindarat, Peyton LitbergFrank, Arnav Magadala, and
Parker Rowley.
Absent: Riya Argawal, Erica Chen, Everly Moore, Maribel Rodriguez, Sahil
Sampangi, and Jade Yakel.
4.PUBLIC COMMENT:
None.
5.DISCUSSION / ACTION ITEMS:
A.Upcoming Events
i.Easter Egg Hunt – Recreation Supervisor, Victoria Peterson, discussed
the importance of volunteering at this event, and discussed ways to
promote the need for volunteers at the high school and middle schools.
Teen Council signed up for volunteer times and said they would begin
asking their friends to attend. Those present gave their shift preferences.
ii.Teen Cupcake Challenge – Recreation Supervisor, Victoria Peterson,
discussed the need for a minimum of three Teen Council membe rs to
volunteer at this event and serve as kitchen monitors and judges.
Members gave tentative commitments but will confirm at a future
meeting.
iii.Moorpark Earth Festival – Teen Council again discussed ideas for an
activity booth for Teen Council to run. It was decided that Teen Council
would host a rock painting arts & craft booth, and possibly do face
painting, and lastly pass out take-home “seed bombs” for children to

plant at home.
iv.Teen Dodgeball Night – Recreation Supervisor, Victoria Peterson,
shared tasks that needed to be accomplished ahead of the Teen
Dodgeball Night, which included: creating some graphics to share on
social media and flyers, coming up with a new theme or tagline for the
event, and creating clean music playlists. Teen Council members were
encouraged to begin working on these ideas and come up with other
ways to enhance the event.
B.Job Opportunity
i.Recreation Supervisor, Victoria Peterson, discussed the current
employment opportunities at the Arroyo Vista Recreation Center. She
shared that there were positions open to work at summer camp, Camp
Moorpark, and also positions open to work as a youth basketball official.
She encouraged Teen Council to look at the job descriptions and apply
to work at the Arroyo Vista Recreation Center if they were interested.

None.
7.CONSENT CALENDAR:
A.Minutes from February 1, 2023 were approved.
B.Minutes from February 15, 2023 were approved.
8.ADJOURNAMENT:
