He is a lifetime resident of California. Born in Los Angeles and raised in Simi Valley, he has lived in Camarillo for the past 28 years. He is a member of the Board of Directors for Casa Pacifica home for abused kids. He has been married to his wife, Marlene, for the past thirty years. Marlene is a lifetime Ventura County resident and a mathematics professor. He has two children, Lindsey, 28 and Andy, 26. Geoff holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration from California State University, Northridge, a Master's Degree in Management from Cal Poly Pomona, and is a graduate of the California State Peace Officers Command College. Sheriff Geoff Dean John Reilly is a 23 year veteran of the Sheriff's Office who holds a bachelor's degree in History from CSUN and a master's degree in Criminal Justice from American Military University. John has a diverse law enforcement background in a variety of disciplines from tactical operations to investigations. He was previously the Administrative Sergeant and Investigations Supervisor at the Moorpark Station. John's most recent experience includes supervising our county -wide patrol operations and acting as the Sheriff's Office official spokesperson. John lives in Moorpark and is active in local youth sports and other groups. Captain John Reilly Chief of Police As the Administrative Sergeant, Darin is responsible for maintaining the budget, interacting with the City Finance Department, coordinating all in-service training, supervising office staff, Beat Coordinator, and Traffic Unit. He also procures and maintains equipment, oversees patrol scheduling and the VIP and Explorer Programs, monitors grants, and assists with special event planning. In the absence of the Chief of Police, he fills in as the station's commanding officer. i aty Becky Purnell Beat Coordinator Sergeant Darin Hendren Administrative Sergeant As the Station Beat Coordinator, Becky works closely with city staff and patrol, and reviews various permits submitted to the City. She responds to community concerns, coordinates solutions, and notifies the public of crime trends/crime prevention and emergency situations. She accomplishes this through social media such as Nextdoor, Twitter, Nixle, and presentations or meetings with various groups. Becky is responsible for planning special events such as 3rd of July Fireworks Extravaganza, Moorpark Country Days, the Beer Festival, and the Civil War Reenactment. She also prepares monthly and quarterly reports, along with special projects as assigned by the Chief of Police and Administrative Sergeant. RM Yessenia"s tasks include administrative support to the Chief of Police, payroll, preparing false alarm letters, subpoena processing, and supporting the front office. Jane maintains the schedule for patrol, ride 11 alongs, and tours. She also is the Volunteer in Policing coordinator and provides front office support. WNW Front Office Records Specialist Ben Chen works the front office answering phones and assisting the public at the front counter. Ben's duties include researching/processing criminal records; providing information to law enforcement personnel and the general public; updating state, local, and federal computer databanks; receiving and examining documents for accuracy and compliance with legal requirements; receiving reports }� and entering applicable information into various computer databases; and processing money for report and vehicle release fees. i y.. -44 Student Aide Fatima Cabrera Records Specialist assists front office staff with Ben Chen answering phones, filing, ticket sign offs, collecting money for vehicle release fees, assisting the public at the front counter, assisting other bureaus, and other various tasks as assigned. • Student Aide Fatima Cabrera • 'a Investigations The Moorpark Investigations Bureau consists of a Sergeant, two Senior Deputies and a Sheriff's Service Technician. The Bureau is responsible for the investigation of a wide variety of cases from minor thefts and batteries to complex identity thefts and assaults. Most recently, the Bureau has experienced an increase in cases involving organized and semi -organized criminal crews who commit large-scale identity theft. Often times, these same crews commit multiple thefts from unlocked vehicles with the intention of finding and stealing wallets, driver's licenses, credit cards, or other items containing the personal identifying information of others. In many instances, it is these small scale thefts that NN help fuel the substantial identity theft related crimes. The unit is also responsible for documenting and tracking active gang members and testifying as gang experts in court. The Special Enforcement Unit works closely with representatives from Probation, Parole, and other investigative units within the Sheriff's Office. 2017 Statistics Probation / Parole Searches- 128 Arrests- 104 Search Warrants- 29 Surveillances-107 Deputy John Eisenhard (left) & Deputy Ken Michaelson (right) School Resource Officer The School Resource Officer is assigned to monitor all of the schools within the Moorpark School District. As part of his duties, the School Resource Officer works closely with school employees to ensure student / staff safety and ' to address all crime, drug, and alcohol related issues involving students. The School Resource Officer also works closely with the deputies assigned to the Special Enforcement Unit to address concerns of students who are involved in gang and tagger- related activities. Deputy George Hernandez ea «- 4Y't Traffic Bureau The Traffic Unit consists of 3 motorcycle officers and 3 traffic cadets. Their focus is keeping the streets of Moorpark safe. They accomplish this through speed enforcement, commercial truck enforcement, traffic education, and directed enforcement. Their goal is to minimize the number of traffic collisions through various enforcement operations. Dano is a 4 year old German Shepherd whose favorite past times are catching bad guys, playing soccer, eating treats, and greeting everyone he meets. License Plate Reader (LPR) The patrol cars equipped with License Plate Readers are continually scanning license plates. The LPR system alerts the deputy if a scanned license plate belongs to a stolen vehicle, a wanted subject, or someone on probation/parole. ,:,-A- a b I e z w�� In 2017, a landscaper went on a rampage with a pickax, attacking the female resident and a coworker at the house where he was working. Responding deputies immediately located and arrested the suspect, who was attempting to start the house on fire. The female victim sustained major head injuries from being struck in the head with the pickax. In December 2017, the Ventura County Federal Credit Union was robbed. Detectives quickly identified a suspect, who was located and arrested the following day. Detectives were able to tie the _A suspect to another bank robbery in Camarillo. In 2017, Moorpark Deputies assisted Simi Valley Police with the search for a stolen vehicle suspeG who crashed then fled on foot into a neighborhood off of Miller Parkway. A search involving numerous agencies, along with K-9 and copters, failed to locate the suspect. The following mornin residents spotted the suspect in the same neighborhood. Another multi -agency search, along with copter and K-9, again failed. Later that day, the suspect entered a residence in the neighborhood, and the homeowner called 911. Responding deputies located and arrested the suspect inside the resident's home. In May 2017, several businesses in Moorpark were burglarized. Alert patrol deputies on dawn shift spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle from one of the previous burglaries. Deputies arrested the occupants for unrelated charges, and detectives conducted a follow up investigation. Detectives linked the suspects to all of the burglaries, and the suspects are currently awaiting trial.
