TEEN COUNCIL
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
November 8, 2023, 5:00 p.m.
Arroyo Vista Recreation Center,
4550 Tierra Rejada Road
1. CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 5:02 p.m. by Teen Council Chair, Abe Jeong.
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Teen Council member, Jai Sarin.
3. ROLL CALL:
Present: Capri Alva, Allie Cano, Katelyn Craft, Abe Jeong, Zoey Jeong, Alison
Jimenez, Elijah Luekenga, Aadya Magadala, Everly Moore, Aditya Popuri,
Sahil Sampangi, Jai Sarin, Amber Yakel, and Jade Yakel.
Absent: Lauren Kaften and Dylan Montelibano.
Staff: Recreation Supervisor, Victoria Peterson, and Recreation Services
Manager, Stephanie Anderson.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT:
None.
5. DISCUSSION / ACTION ITEMS:
A. Review Haunted High Street on 10/31/23
i. Recreation Supervisor, Victoria Peterson, thanked the Teen Council for
their assistance in the carnival area at the Haunted High Street event.
She shared that there was an estimated 5,500 people in attendance.
Teen Council members liked the organization of the activities but
suggested that there be more chairs and water for the volunteers.
B. Discussion of possible new teen programs or events
i. Teen Council members discussed adding a cooking class for teens to
the programs offered by the Arroyo Vista Recreation Center, and stated
that the conversation should continue about what programs or events to
offer in the future.
C. Utilization of social media
i. Teen Council members requested that the event s be advertised through
the City’s social media. Recreation Supervisor, Victoria Peterson,
encouraged the Teen Council’s help in creating posts, videos, or
graphics, but said that any posts ultimately needed her approval.

D. Teen Council survey
i. Recreation Services Manager, Stephanie Anderson, discussed the goal
of the upcoming Teen Council survey was to gauge what was important
to teens and members of Teen Council, and see whether we should
make modifications to broaden or improve the Teen Council.
6. ANNOUNCEMENTS/FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:
None.
7. CONSENT CALENDAR:
A. Minutes from the Special Meeting on October 4, 2023 were approved.
B. Minutes from the Regular Meeting on October 25, 2023 were approved.
8. ADJOURNAMENT:
Teen Council Chair, Abe Jeong, adjourned the meeting at 5:22 p.m.

The meeting was called to order at 5:01 p.m. by Teen Council Chair, Abe Jeong.

A. Breakfast with Santa
i. Recreation Supervisor, Victoria Peterson, discussed the upcoming
Breakfast with Santa event, and discussed Teen Council’s involvement.
She explained the dress code for working in the dining room, and gave
direction as to how to give good customer service while acting as a
server.
