Installation of Additional Crosswalk at
Intersection of Peach Hill Road and Mesa Verde Drive
The attached letter from the Moorpark Unified School District
requests a crosswalk on the east leg of Peach Hill Road at
Mesa Verde Drive; A crosswalk is currently in place on the
west leg of this intersection.
The District's reasoning for the additional crosswalk is to
minimize the distance to the school s~te and the number of inter-
sections that must be crossed.
After discussions with the District, this request was developed
in lieu of their initial request for a crosswalk and possibly
a four-way stop at Rolling Knoll and Peach Hill. That request,
if approved, would probably have required a crossing guard.
In further discussions with the District, we were informed that
busses did not service the area north of Peach Hill Road in the
CalProp (Design Edition) and Tejada Ranch (Bella Vista and
Vista Del Valle) areas. All students in this area are required
to walk to Peach Hill School to pick up the District's bus service.
There are currently 72 K-8 students from this area.
The City Engineer has expressed concern with the request and
feels that the existing crosswalk can serve the same purpose.
The east leg of the intersection also has the most traffic.
