INTERFACE
2·1·1
of Ventura County
Since 2005, Interface 211 Ventura County (211VC) has served as the conduit between
community members, social service agencies, and community-based organizations by
responding to calls and texts from community members seeking shelter, health care, food,
utilities, mental health support, legal services, consumer and public safety, transportation, and
emergency and disaster services. In nearly 20 years of service, 211 VC has acquired extensive
experience in providing access to critical resources that aid local and national populations in
navigating services and support during some of their most vulnerable moments. Today, we are
proud to highlight the following statewide projects :
Public Safety Power Shutoff {PSPS) Care Coordination
Interface 211 Ventura County (211 VC) is entrusted by investor-owned utility companies, PG&E
and Southern California Edison, to provide care coordination to their most vulnerable
customers: access and functional needs and medically dependent Californians across 12
counties. Locally and statewide, 211 VC has provided resources to individuals in need of care
coordination such as transportation services, shelter accommodations, food assistance, Public
Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) care planning, and battery or generator rebates.
Kick It California {Kick It CA)
Kick It California is one of the state's most successful tobacco cessation campaigns to date . Each
time a caller contacts 211 VC, they are screened for tobacco cessation benefits and connected
to Kick It CA's one-on -one coaching an·d self-help resources . Kick It CA has made a significant
impact on communities that are particularly vulnerable to tobacco use. Through a gift card
program, Kick It CA incentivizes tobacco users to learn more about the science and support that
helps people quit tobacco for good. Highly trained Quit Coaches work one-on -one with clients
to develop personalized quit plans and inspire clients to take quitting more seriously than ever.
Since May 2022, The Kick It CA program has received over 38,000 referrals from 211s across
California, providing smokers, vapers, and tobacco chewers with much needed support.
Ride United
Ride United: Last Mile Delivery began as a program to assist vulnerable populations in getting
food and other essential items during the COVID -19 pandemic and has continued to expand,
filling gaps in services that predate the pandemic. Since April 2020, the 211-United Way
Worldwide-DoorDash projecthas helped to deliver food boxes and other necessities to more
than 15,000 local residents and over 45,000 people statewide. The no-cost program initially
provided support with food and groceries but grew to include supplies such as pet food,
blankets, and personal hygiene items. The popular PET Project delivery program has helped
reduced the number of pets surrendered to our local animal shelters because of food
insecurity, leaving room for other animals in need .

The Ride United: Last Mile Delivery program has become a safety net for residents who are
elderly, disabled, or out of work, supporting individuals in meeting their basic needs despite
transportation issues, health issues, or other socioeconomic barriers. Although funding for the
project sunset in June of 2023, Interface 211 is determined to fill the funding gap and continue
this life-saving program which helps reduce food insecurity for entire families -pets included!
Ventura County Versus Hate
In partnership with the California Department of Civil Rights for the statewide program
California Versus Hate, Interface 211VC is launching our own campaign: Ventura County Versus
Hate. This program works to increase systemic equality and fill social gaps by promoting
services that treat individuals fairly and justly, regardless of their race, ethnicity, or culture.
According to healthmattersinvc.org, there was a 40% increase in hate crimes in Ventura County
from 2020 to 2021.
As part of the program, 211 VC has a specialized team trained to respond to reports of hate
crimes committed across California. This team assesses the caller's safety, determines the need
for emergency assistance, and provides connections to local resources for physical and mental
health support. It will also assist callers in submitting reports and requests for legal assistance
to the Department of Justice.
211VC is committed to raising awareness in the county about the program to promote Ventura
County as a safe place for every community member by promoting Hate Crime Awareness
Week June 16th -22nd, 2024. This will coincide with Pride Month and Juneteenth, which serves
as a perfect conduit to help build awareness in racial, ethnic, and LGBTQA+ communities.
211Ride
Community members experiencing physical, medical, cognitive, emotional, and age-related
challenges frequently encounter barriers to local and regional transportation. Through the
211Ride program, 211VC leverages existing technology to deliver innovative transportation
assistance and ride planning solutions and meet the unique transportation needs of Ventura
County residents.
211Ride simplifies the trip planning process by assessing factors such as physical mobility, age,
preferred transit mode, and schedule. 211Ride provides ride recommendations by bus,
specialized transportation, and volunteer transportation services and goes one step further to
locate community services and programs that are central to users' location. Explore
transportation options and the 211Ride platform by visiting 211ride.org.
