It is the desire for efficient economical and above all safe transport of goods through this area. As you are all very likely too well aware there is a gap connector between the 23 Fy and the 118 fy now in the advanced planning stage.Currently the traffic must laborously traverse narrow, congested surface roads posing a hazard to driver and resident alike. In addition, a reconstruction project is about to begin on Fy 101 that may well increase the burden on the already overburdened streets of Moorpark as well make the driver's job more difficult. The city council of Los Angeles has proposed a truck , ____ ....... ..... ....... UQH UU 101 while the new project is undertaken. The precise plan for this ban has not been presented. In fact Caltrans representitives have assured us that such a ban could not take place without presentation of an alternate route that has the approval of local residents who would be af:fect2d. We would urgently request that the trucking industry oppose any ban should it seem a possible option.Su~h a ban would not serve either the drivers of the trucks or the residents along the route, Curren1-.i.y driven:; w!.lu pa:c,,:, Ll11 uu61, l'iuuq:;ar-:C: are sufficiently i;npacted and they would surely have cause to complain as much as we. In addition it is our hope that all members of the trucking industry will join us in seeking to expedite the completion of the gap connector. It is a matter of grave concern that the connector was not completed prior to reconstruction on the world's most heavily travled freeway. The trucking industry currently suffers the danger, inconvenience and discomfort equally with Moorpark residents. Your support and efforts in this matter can have great effect at the state level and your appeals to state legislators and administrators will be invaluable in influencing tho:3e who make the determination concerning funding and scheduling. The earlier the completion date of this vital artery the safer our travel will be. Sincerely,
