SUBJECT: CITIZENS REDEVELOPMENT AD HOC COMMITTEE STATUS REPORT
When the City Council held a joint meeting
Redevelopment Ad Hoc Committee on January 6,
requested an interim report of their activities.

with the Citizens
1988, the Council
To date we have met
The first meeting on January 14, 1988 consisted of a general overview
of the Feasibility Analysis. Urban Futures Inc. was in attendance.
The Committee decided they wanted to learn about the redevelopment
activities of other cities before proceeding further with the
Feasibility Analysis. In addition to the planned presentation by the
City of Thousand Oaks, the Committee requested a presentation by the
City of Oxnard.
As previously reported, City staff tried for several weeks to
coordinate the two presentations at one meeting without success. The
Committee met with Dennis Matthews, Redevelopment Administrator on
March 10 and is scheduled to meet with a representative from the City
of Thousand Oaks on March 23.
Much of the discussion at the Committee meetings has been focused on
the issues of condemnation power, general property acquisition and the
potential displacement, need to relocate and associated impacts on
residents. The Committee has requested a list of owner occupied
dwelling units in the general area of Charles Street, High Street and
Moorpark Avenue.

It appears that at least three (3) additional meetings by the Committee
are needed. The Council had tentatively set Monday, April 4, 1988 for
a joint meeting with the Committee to review their recommendations. A
more likely date will be two weeks later on April 18. Unless directed
otherwise, we will proceed with this new target date.
