SUBJECT: Selection of Name for 69 Acre Community Park
At your direction, the Parks and Recreation CommissionJ through Staff,
conducted a city-wide contest to name the 69 Acre Community Park.
Staff distributed information concerning the contest by two means:
4,800 flyers through the Moorpark Unified School District and a display
ad in the "Moorpark Mirror" (approximate circulation 13,000). Contest
deadline was 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 1988.
The Parks and Recreation Commission reviewed the entries received at
their October 10, 1988, Commission meeting. Seventy-six (76) entries
were received.
After reviewing the names, the Commission recommends to the City
Council the following:
A. Names selected for consideration in priority order for naming
the park:
1. Arroyo Vista;
2. Vista de Arroyo Park; and
3. Beltramo Park.
B. "Honorable Mention" letters sent to entrants recommending the
following names:

69 Acre Park -(If the 100 acre wood was good enough for
Winnie-the-Pooh, 69 Acre Park is good enough for
Moorpark)
Unanimously approved 4-0.

:--The City of Moorpark is holding a city-wide contest
" • to name our future 69 acre Community Park.
The park is located northeast of the _new Moorpark High School below the bluff,
south of the Arroyo Simi between Liberty Bell and Beltramo Roads. Currently the
ark is named for its size, "69 Acre Community Park," but we would like you to give
e park an official name.
OUR CONTEST IS SIMPLE
1. Any resident of the City is eligible to participate.
2. Enter as many times as you would like (one name per entry form.)
3. Pick a name you like, fill out the entry form below and return it to City Hall.
4. The Parks and Recreation Commission will review the names entered and submit
their choices to the City Council who will select the official name for the park.
5. The winning name and person will be honored on Saturday, October 15, 1988,
during the Safety Fair at the new Moorpark High School.
6. All entries must be submitted to City Hall, Community Services Department, by
5:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, 1988. Entries will NOT be accepted after that
time.
