City Hall Grand Opening Function

The Parks and Recreation Commission were directed by City Council to
recommend a program for the Grand Opening of City Hall.
An ad-hoc committee consisting of Linda Symchak, Sam Nainoa and John
Roberts was established by the Commission to draft a proposal for
Commission review.
At the August 8, 1988, Commission meeting, Linda Symchak presented
three proposals for comm:l.ssion review and consideration.
After review of the three proposals, the Commission unanimously
recommends to the City Council proposal/scenario No. 1 for the City
Hall grand opening ceremonial function.

City Hall Function
After carefully considering the function itself, time restraints of
when the new City Hall building would be completed, and the three
scenarios below, the Ad-Hoc Committee is recommending that the City Hall
Function follow the first scenario.
Press releases and display ads would be placed in the local newspapers.
Donations would also be solicited to help offset any costs.
1. If the City Hall Function was in the Afternoon:
Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies
City Hall open to public
Park & Recreation displays of parks
Fire Department open to public
Fire truck on display
Police display with car
Pictures of City Staff set up near appropriate desk
with short job description of each individual
Historical Society display
Chamber of Commerce display
Flowers everywhere
Cake & punch served free
2. If the City Hall Function was in the Evening:
All of the above
Fireworks
3. If the City Hall Function was during Country Days:
Same as afternoon
High School Band
Non-Profit organization to sell hot dogs & coke
Fireworks in evening
