California May 30, 2018 A Special Meeting of the Arts Commission of the City of Moorpark was held on May 30, 2018 at the Moorpark Community Center located at 799 Moorpark Avenue, Moorpark, California. 1 . CALL TO ORDER: Chair Blaugrund called the meeting to order at 5:01 P.M. 2. ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioner De Haz, Commissioner Roullard, Vice Chair Hoberg and Chair Blaugrund. Absent: Commissioner Pugh. Staff Present: Jeremy Laurentowski, Parks and Recreation Director; Chris Ball, Management Analyst, and Kimberly Sexton, Administrative Assistant. 3. SPECIAL AGENDA ITEMS: None. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. 5. REORDERING OF, AND ADDITIONS TO, THE AGENDA: None. 6. ANNOUNCEMENTS, FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS, AND REPORTS ON MEETINGS/CONFERENCES ATTENDED BY COMMISSIONERS. Chair Blaugrund requested the Commission identify, without limitations, a list of potential art locations as a future agenda item. Chair Blaugrund requested the research and development of an art ordinance for the City of Moorpark be added as a future agenda item. Minutes of the Special Arts Commission Meeting Moorpark, California Page 2 May 30, 2018 7. PRESENTATION/ACTION/DISCUSSION: A. Consider Plaque Content for Police Service Center Public Art Project. Staff Recommendation: Approve suggested content for plaques and forward recommendation to City Council. Mr. Ball gave the staff report. There were no speakers. The Commission and staff discussed two plaques selected by the artist and the Commission recommended edits to shorten the artist's description in Plaque #1 and approved Plaque #2 without any changes. The Commission and staff discussed the two plaques, #3 and #4 which were preferred by the Moorpark Police Services Center. The Commission recommended replacing Plaque #3 with Plaque #4 from the alternative options list and approved Plaque #4 without any changes. MOTION: Chair Blaugrund moved and Commissioner De Haz seconded a motion to approve the content for plaques as amended and forward to the City Council. B. Moorpark Multicultural Festival Recap. Staff Recommendation: Staff will give an oral report. Mr. Ball gave the staff report. There were no speakers. The Commission and staff discussed positive feedback received from the parents of children in the "kids" section at the Multicultural Arts Festival and from attendees about the variety of performers. The Commission and staff discussed ideas about potential additions and changes to the next event. MOTION: The Commission received the oral report. CONSENT CALENDAR: MOTION: Vice Chair Hoberg moved and Chair Blaugrund seconded a motion to approve the consent calendar. The motion carried by unanimous voice vote. A. Approval of Minutes for Arts Commission Regular Meeting of February 20, 2018. Staff Recommendation: Approve as presented. 9. ADJOURNMENT: Chair Blaugrund adjourned the meeting at 6:23 P.M.
