SUBJECT: Approve Scope of Griffin Senior Park Improvements
and Authorize Staff to Proceed with the Public
Bid Process.
The formal plans for the above project are ready to go out
to public bid. They are being presented to City Council
for their review and approval. The scope of the improvements
and the plans have been reviewed by the City Engineers office
(for technical accuracy) and have been approved by the Parks
and Recreation Commission.
Scope of Project/Estimated Cost Overview
TOt Lot (miscellaneous play equipment, swing set,
benches(3), sidewalks, trash receptacles and
sand etc.)

Additional minor landscaping and
irrigation improvements to be
handled under the terms of our
existing Parks Maintenance Agreement
with Turf Pro. Staff feels that
their knowledge of this park's
irrigation system will expedite
the project. The work in this
phase will be done first and
will be completed by the time
the other contract is awarded.
This phase involves the revising
of existing irrigation systems
to accommodate the other
improvements along with installing
two drinking fountains and some
minor landscaping.

anticipation of $30,000 to be
paid by Griffin Company in lieu
of installing $10,000 in play
equipment, and a $20,000 concrete
basketball court as part of their
obligation under RPD 1041 and 1042,

condition #29. Payment of the
$30,000 was approved by the Parks
and Recreation Commission at their
February 19, 1986 meeting. Funds will be
forwarded to the City upon issuance
of the first occupancy permit for
Tract 3963 in approximately 6
months.

Recommended Action:
Based upon the above information staff is requesting City
Council:
1. Approve the scope of Griffin Senior Park Improvements.
2. Authorize staff to proceed with the public bid process
for the improvements.
3. Appropriate an additional $10,000 from the Park Improvements
Fund to cover the unfunded portion of improvements as
recommended by the Parks and Recreation Commission.
