MEMORANDUM
The Honorable City Council
Steven Kueny, City Manager
April 1, 1988
Proposed truck scales within the Moorpark City Limits
The City Council's ad hoc committee recently met to review potential sites.
The following prospective sites were located:
Westbound:
Fastbound:
1. North side of the 118 freeway 1. Unspecified site west of the
approximately one mile east City limits on the south side
of its current terminus. of 118 freeway.
2. Property directly west of DP-302 2. South side of the 118 freeway
just outside of the City limits. approximately one mile east
of its terminus.
In a telephone conversation with Mr. Earl Rogers of CalTrans, he indicated
that truck scales located on freeways usually have 250' of depth from the
edge of the traffic lanes. He did indicate on the two-lane portion of
Highway 118, that a non-standard depth would be permitted. It would
probably require a minimum of 100' of depth. If two locations (one each
direction) are built, he says that the only restriction as to proximity is
that they be within the same California Highway Patrol district. A site
visit with Mr. Rogers has been tentatively scheduled to occur the week of
Apri 1 18th. MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA
