SUBJECT: Code Enforcement On -Going Assignments/Responsibilities
and Priorities Listing
The Department of Community Development, on June 8, 1990, completed
a report listing the Department's Staff responsibilities,
assignments and priorities. I have attached a portion of that
report to assist Council in reviewing Code Enforcement priorities.
The Code Enforcement's priorities are identified by an asterisk
next to the number. Also attached, are copies of work programs
reviewed by the City Council in 1987.

1. Overcrowding
Research other cities regarding the overcrowding issue. Continue
to log complaints and conduct follow up.
2. Trash Dumping
Identify location of jumping site. Obtain property owners name
and address from parcel maps and assessment roll. Send letters
requesting removal of trash. Set a routine inspection of problem
areas.
3. Recreation al Vehicles
Research Municipal and Vehicle Codes to find possible course of
action of removal of said vehicles from residential areas.
4. Radio/Communication - Code Enforcement and Public Works
Research types, capabilities and cost.
5.. Simi Valley Landfill
Research and write status report.
6. Graffiti
Research locations, projected man power for clean up and cost.
7. Home Occupation
Research home occupation permits and forms.
8. Neighborhood Clean U
Set up cleanup day with rubbish company and Rotary. Contact
newspaper to advertise same.

Researching quick removal, methods of reimbursing city cost

The Code Enforcement Officer intends to continue to conduct re -
inspections of businesses and restaurants regarding the smoking
ordinance, illegal dumping, illegal outside storage of materials
in industrial and commercial areas, removal of disabled vehicles
being parked on private properties.
Code Enforcement has reached 83% compliance from the period of
December 5, 1990 through September 5, 1990. Staff will provide
Council a Code Enforcement activity and Status report again in six
(6) months.
