FROM: Richard Hare, Deputy City Manag e DATE: October 1.2, 1989 (City Council Meeting 1.0-18-89) SUBJECT: Commercial Vehicle Policy Renewal The City currently has a commercial vehicle policy with Financial Indemnity Company of Burbank, California. This policy covers our 1983 Chevy S-10 pickup; 1986 Ford XL Ranger pickup; 1987 Ford Econoline pickup; and a 1987 Dodge Aries. The policy is scheduled for renewal October 28, 1989, with a total premium of $1,820.00. Staff has investigated the feasibility of transferring coverage to the Southern California Joint Powers Insurance Authority (SCJPIA) for comprehensive property loss and collision. Rates have been secured from SCJPIA, and the estimated premium is $624. 70. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends securing coverage with the SCJPIA for $624. 70 pro rated to the renewal of property insurance coverages, which :is January 1, 1990.. Total billing for the remainder of this year shoul.d be approximately $104. Upon renewal, Staff will investigate the feasibility of phasing out coverage on those vehicles not currently listed under the Kelly Bluebook.
