REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
January 8, 2025, 5:00 p.m.

1. CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Teen Council Chair, Abraham Jeong
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Elijah Luekenga.
3. ROLL CALL:
Present:Eve Luekenga, Bianca Gagajena, Elijah Luekenga, Caden Hafer, Dylan
Montelibano, Katelyn Craft, Abraham Jeong, Zoey Jeong, Allison
Mendelson, Charlea Moore, and Michael Stevenson
Absent: Gauransh Tyagi, Alison Jimenez, and Noam Adler
Staff: Recreation Services Manager, Stephanie Anderson, and Recreation
Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT:
None.
5. DISCUSSION / ACTION ITEMS:
A. City Council Presentation Schedule
i. Recreation Services Manager, Stephanie Anderson, informed Teen
Council members that the Teen Council presentation is scheduled for the
February 5 City Council meeting and asked that each Ad Hoc select at
least one representative to attend the presentation.
B. Teen Cupcake Challenge
i. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, reminded Teen Council
members of the upcoming Teen Cupcake Challenge on January 31,
2025, and asked Teen Council members to continue promoting via
distribution of fliers, word of mouth, Moorpark High School's
broadcasting program, "Musketeer Mornings", and sharing the Teen
Council Instagram post promoting the event.

C. Breakfast with Santa Recap
i. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, thanked Teen Council
members for volunteering at the event and asked for feedback. Teen
Council members provided feedback including prioritizing getting the
larger tables served first, minimizing portion sizes for children, and
having coloring sheets/letters to Santa more readily available.
D. Holiday Movie Marathon Recap
i. Teen Council members, Abraham Jeong and Elijah Luekenga, shared
that overall, the event went well.
E. Movies in the Park — Peer Survey
i. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, asked Teen Council members
to survey their peers and friends on their favorite movies so that popular
teen movies can be selected for the Movies in the Park events that will
appeal to the teen demographic for the designated teen nights. Teen
Council member, Dylan Montelibano, shared that she would create a
Google form and QR code linked to the form with the survey questions,
with the goal to bring the results to the next Teen Council meeting.
F. Teen Program Ideas for Spring and Summer
i. Teen Council members provided potential program ideas for spring and
summer programs including a crochet class, a jewelry making class, a
drive-in movie event, and an escape room. Teen Council member,
Allison Mendelson, shared that programs that would allow teens to
practice independence and would teach real life experiences could be
popular with teens.
G. Ad Hoc Updates
i. Government Relations Ad Hoc member, Abraham Jeong, shared that
the Government Relations Ad Hoc created the goal to collaborate with
Moorpark High School to bring a City employee to the school to speak to
students about what they do in their career and how it impacts City
government.
ii. Events/Program Ad Hoc members Dylan Montelibano and Katelyn Craft
shared that the Events/Program Ad Hoc had selected inflatable
attractions and a soda drink menu in addition to other ideas to
incorporate with the Teen After Dark event like facepainting or temporary
tattoos and shared the idea of an escape room as a new teen event for
next year.
iii. Social Issues Ad Hoc members, Elijah Luekenga and Bianca Gagajena,
shared that the Social Issues Ad Hoc created Instagram posts for the
Teen Council Instagram account that spread awareness and offer
resources on teen issues and that they are discussing other ideas or
trends to spread awareness such as setting up a booth at the Moorpark
High School Wellness Center to create friendship bracelets and connect
teens that might be struggling mentally.
iv. Social Outreach Ad Hoc members shared that the Social Outreach Ad
Hoc created Instagram posts for the Teen Council Instagram account
that promote upcoming teen programs and events such as the Baking
Basics class, Canvas Paint Teen Night, and Teen Cupcake Challenge.
