ANTONI0 CASTRO Mayor Councilmember Councilmember Councilmember Councilmember ITEM 7.A TEEN COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES February 26, 2025, 5:00 p.m. Arroyo Vista Recreation Center, 4550 Tierra Reiada Road 1. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Teen Council member, Abraham Jeong. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Zoey Jeong. 3. ROLL CALL: Present: Noam Adler, Dylan Montelibano, Katelyn Craft, Charlea Moore, Gauransh Tyagi, Abraham Jeong, Zoey Jeong, Bianca Gagajena, and Allison Mendelson Absent: Eve Luekenga, Elijah Luekenga, Caden Hafer, and Michael Stevenson Staff: Recreation Services Manager, Stephanie Anderson and Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. 5. DISCUSSION / ACTION ITEMS: A. Re-elect Co -Chair i. Teen Council members decided to revisit this agenda item at the March 12 Teen Council meeting to include absent Teen Council members. B. Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting Presentation Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, notified Teen Council members of the upcoming Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting on April 7 and asked for each Ad Hoc to select a representative to present the progress of their goals to the commission. C. Easter Egg Hunt i. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, notified Teen Council members of the upcoming Easter Egg Hunt event at Arroyo Vista Community Park on April 19 and described the different volunteer roles for the event. Apricot Festival i. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, notified Teen Council members of the upcoming Apricot Festival event at Arroyo Vista Community Park on May 10, asked Teen Council members for ideas on how to get teens involved in the event, and suggested connecting with the visual and performing art departments at local middle and high schools to gauge interest on scheduling a performance or a hosting a booth/gallery at the event. E. Moorpark Earth Festival & Community Yard Sale i. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, notified Teen Council members of the upcoming Moorpark Earth Festival & Community Yard Sale event at Arroyo Vista Community Park on May 3 and asked Teen Council members for ideas for an eco-friendly/sustainability themed kids craft that Teen Council members will help facilitate on the day of the event. Rock painting was done in prior years and is an option for this year's event as well. ii. Teen Council members suggested contacting the zoo program at Moorpark College to have a booth at the event F. Moorpark Ad Hoc Restructuring i. Teen Council members voted unanimously to dissolve the Social Outreach Ad Hoc and have each Ad Hoc manage their own outreach and promotion of programs and events. Teen Council members will determine the restructuring of members on each Ad Hoc at the March 12 Teen Council meeting. G. Movies in the Park — Survey Results i. Teen Council member, Dylan Montelibano, shared new submissions to the survey she created to collect information about movies that teens are interested in that can be shown during the Movies in the Park events. The movie "Surf's Up" received the most interest. H. Ad Hoc Updates i. Government Relations Ad Hoc members, Gauransh Tyagi and Abraham Jeong, shared that they are working with teachers at their respective schools to plan a speaking event where a city employee or City Council member can share a presentation about government relations. ii. Events/Program Ad Hoc members shared that the Events/Program Ad Hoc is working on the clues and instructions for the escape room during the Teen After Dark event, and if the escape room is successful at the event, escape rooms could be a new event offered next year for teens. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, reminded Teen Council members that registration for the event is open and suggested promoting through the Teen Council Instagram account, passing out flyers, and exploring options to advertise through the middle and high schools. iii. Social Issues Ad Hoc members shared that the Social Issues Ad Hoc is still working on collaborating with the High School Wellness Center to set up a booth that will help spread awareness on social issues and Teen Council Regular Meeting Minutes February 26, 2025 they are continuing to create posts for the Teen Council Instagram account. CONSENT CALENDAR: Unanimously approved February 12, 2025, Regular Meeting Minutes. K.
