CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 5:08 p.m. by Teen Council member, Elijah Luekenga 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Eve Luekenga 3. ROLL CALL: Present: Noam Adler, Eve Luekenga, Elijah Luekenga, Caden Hafer, Dylan Montelibano, Katelyn Craft, Charlea Moore, Gauransh Tyagi and Michael Stevenson Absent: Abraham Jeong, Zoey Jeong, Bianca Gagajena, Alison Jimenez, and Allison Mendelson Staff: Parks and Recreation Director, Jeremy Laurentowski and Recreation Services Manager, Stephanie Anderson 4. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. 5. DISCUSSION / ACTION ITEMS: A. City Council Presentation Schedule Teen Council members were reminded of the upcoming Teen Council presentation, scheduled for the February 5 City Council meeting, and that each Ad Hoc would have the chance to speak briefly on their goals and what has been accomplished so far. Recreation Services Manager, Stephanie Anderson asked each Ad Hoc to email Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, with the person who would be representing each Ad Hoc at the presentation. B. Teen Cupcake Challenge Recreation Services Manager, Stephanie Anderson, reminded Teen Council members of the upcoming Teen Cupcake Challenge event, explained the Teen Council member's roles while volunteering, and suggested that Teen Council members continue to promote the event. Recreation Services Manager, Stephanie Anderson, prompted Teen Council members to collect at least 15 responses each from friends and peers to bring to the next Teen Council meeting. D. Teen Program Ideas i. Teen Council members suggested program and event ideas for teens including a surf camp, sports camp, skate night, and a running club E. Easter Egg Hunt i. Recreation Services Manager, Stephanie Anderson, informed Teen Council members of the Easter Egg Hunt event on Saturday, April 19, and asked for Teen Council members to sign up to volunteer and recruit additional volunteers. Volunteer responsibilities for the event would include monitoring the carnival games, hiding the eggs, distributing prizes, facepainting, and more. F. Apricot Festival i. Recreation Services Manager, Stephanie Anderson, informed Teen Council members of the Apricot Festival event on Saturday, May 10, and asked Teen Council members to brainstorm ideas to increase teen involvement and participation with the focus of the event being visual and performing arts. G. Ad Hoc Updates i. Government Relations Ad Hoc members shared that they are determining the "who" and "where" for a public speaking event centered around government relations. ii. Events/Program Ad Hoc members shared that they are nailing down details for the Teen After Dark event including a snow cone machine and an escape room while keeping the budget in mind and a goal of 100 teens in attendance. iii. Social Issues Ad Hoc members shared that they would like to participate in tabling for city events to spread awareness on teen issues and they are working with the Moorpark High School Wellness Center to create pamphlets with resources for managing teen issues and bracelets or pins with a positive message that could be distributed to students. iv. Social Outreach Ad Hoc members shared that they are planning to create posts for the Teen Council Instagram account that introduce each Ad Hoc and another post that includes the Movies in the Park survey. Social Outreach Ad Hoc members are also working on submitting event information to Moorpark Musketeer Mornings and creating a survey to gauge how to get more teen involvement for the Apricot Festival. 6.
