TEEN COUNCIL
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
September 25, 2024, 5:00 p.m.
Arroyo Vista Recreation Center,
4550 Tierra Rejada Road
1. CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 5:04 p.m. by Teen Council Chair, Abraham Jeong
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Caden Hafer.
3. ROLL CALL:
Present: Noam Adler, Charlea Moore, Eve Luekenga, Gauranash Tyagi, Bianca
Gagajena, Everly Moore, Michael Stevenson, Elijah Luekenga, Katelyn
Craft, Zoey Jeong, Alison Jimenez, Caden Hafer, Abraham Jeong, Dylan
Montelibano, and Allison Mendelson
Absent: None.
Staff: Parks and Recreation Director, Jeremy Laurentowski, Recreation Services
Manager, Stephanie Anderson, and Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary
Kleiman.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT:
None.
5. DISCUSSION /ACTION ITEMS:
A. Establish and Appoint 2024/25 Ad Hoc Committees
i. Teen Council Members discussed different Ad Hoc Committees to
establish for this term. There was a motion to establish the specific Ad
Hoc Committees and appoint Teen Council members as follows:
1. Government Relations —Abraham Jeong, Gauranash Tyagi,
Allison Mendelson, and Caden Hafer
2. Events/Programs— Charlea Moore, Everly Moore, Eve Luekenga,
Katelyn Craft, Noam Adler, Bianca Gagajena, and Dylan
Montelibano
3. Social Issues — Elijah Luekenga, Alison Jimenez, Bianca
Gagajena
4. Outreach —Abraham Jeong, Zoey Jeong, Katelyn Craft, Michael
Stevenson, Caden Hafer, and Dylan Montelibano

The goals of each Ad Hoc Committee were established as follows:
1. Government Relations — Collaborate with City Council, voting
education
2. Events/Programs — Plan events (present and future)
3. Social Issues — Bring awareness to teen issues
4. Outreach —Advertising, collaborating with school clubs
The appointments and motion to approve the Ad Hoc Committees
was approved by Teen Council members.
B. Finalize Event Calendar
i. Teen council members expressed need for more time to review the
24/25 Event Calendar as it relates to their personal schedules and other
events happening at the local middle and high schools. It was decided to
keep this topic on the agenda for the next Teen Council meeting.
C. Review Final Teen Council Policy
i. After reviewing the updated Teen Council Policy, the motion to file was
approved.
D. Programming and Events
i. Country Days Parade: 10/5/24
Recreation Services Manager, Stephanie Anderson, explained that Teen
Council members who can attend will be marching in the Country Days
Parade, and that Teen Council member should come dressed in a
Halloween Costume to match the theme of the City of Moorpark's
Recreation Services float.
ii. Haunted High Street: 10/31/24
Recreation Services Manager, Stephanie Anderson, discussed the
event and mentioned that additional volunteers would be needed for this
event. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman passed out volunteer
forms and prompted Teen Council Members to ask their friends and
classmates to help volunteer.
iii. Cupcake Challenge
Recreation Services Manager, Stephanie Anderson, explained that 3-4
volunteers would be needed as judges for this event. Recreation
Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman passed around a sign-up sheet for Teen
Council Members to indicate which Fall events they are available to
• volunteer for.
iv. Teen Class/Program Ideas for Winter 2024/2025
None.
6. ANNOUNCEMENTS/FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS:
A. No announcements from Teen Council members
B. Teen Council members will discuss the 24/25 Event Calendar at the next
meeting
7. CONSENT CALENDAR:
A. Unanimously approved September 11, 2024, Regular Meeting Minutes
8. ADJOURNAMENT:
Teen Council Chair, Abraham Jeong, adjourned the meeting at 6:05 p.m.
