CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 5:02 p.m. by Teen Council Chair, Abraham Jeong 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Caden Hafer. 3. ROLL CALL: Present: Noam Adler, Eve Luekenga, Gauransh Tyagi, Bianca Gagajena, Michael Stevenson, Elijah Luekenga, Katelyn Craft, Zoey Jeong, Alison Jimenez, Caden Hafer, Abraham Jeong, Dylan Montelibano, and Allison Mendelson Absent: Charlea Moore and Everly Moore Staff: Parks and Recreation Director, Jeremy Laurentowski, Recreation Services Manager, Stephanie Anderson, and Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. 5. DISCUSSION !ACTION ITEMS: A. Finalize 24/25 Event Calendar i. Teen Council member Elijah Luekenga made a motion to approve 2024/25 Event Calendar. Teen Council member Caden Hafer made a second motion to approve. The 2024/25 Event Calendar was approved unanimously by Teen Council Members. B. Country Days Parade Recap i. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, stated that the event went well and thanked the Teen Council members in attendance. C. Ad Hoc Updates i. The Social Issues Ad Hoc proposed some ideas including creating a social media account to help spread awareness on Teen issues, creating flyers for Red Ribbon Week, and promoting a fundraising event for the Wellness Center at Moorpark High School. The Events/Program Ad Hoc proposed establishing a theme for the After Dark event to help promote it and expanding on the specialty soda menu due to its popularity at last year's event. iii. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, recommended Teen Council members create group chats via text message to schedule time to meet with their Ad Hocs so that each Ad Hoc can provide an update on their goals and discussions at each Teen Council Meeting. Parks and Recreation Director, Jeremy Laurentowski, emphasized the importance of establishing reachable goals to fulfill the mission of Teen Council. D. Haunted High Street Update i. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, reminded Teen Council members to spread the word and try to recruit volunteers for the Haunted High Street Event. ii. Teen Council member, Dylan Montelibano, stated that she posted the volunteer opportunity to various school clubs at Moorpark High School and mentioned that she received some feedback from peers that they weren't interested in volunteering on Halloween due to other social interests. E. City Council I Parks & Recreation Commission Presentation i. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, provided a calendar showing the meeting dates for Parks and Recreation Commission and City Council through the end of the calendar year so that Teen Council members can determine which meetings they would like to present the goals and progress of each Ad Hoc. Potential dates discussed for the Parks and Rec commission meeting are November 9, 2024 and February 3, 2025. 6. ANNOUNCEMENTS/FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: A. No announcements from Teen Council members B. Teen Council members will discuss the City Council / Parks & Recreation Commission Presentation at the next meeting C. Teen Council members will discuss the Teen Cupcake Challenge event at the next meeting 7. CONSENT CALENDAR: A. Unanimously approved September 25, 2024, Regular Meeting Minutes 8.
