TEEN COUNCIL
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
December 11, 2024, 5:00 p.m.
Arroyo Vista Recreation Center,
4550 Tierra Rejada Road
1. CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 5:04 p.m. by Teen Council Chair, Abraham Jeong
2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Caden Hafer.
3. ROLL CALL:
Present: Eve Luekenga, Bianca Gagajena, Elijah Luekenga, Caden Hafer, Dylan
Montelibano, Katelyn Craft, Abraham Jeong, Zoey Jeong, Noam Adler,
Allison Mendelson, Alison Jimenez and Michael Stevenson
Absent: Gauransh Tyagi and Charlea Moore
Staff: Recreation Services Manager, Stephanie Anderson, and Recreation
Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT:
None.
5. DISCUSSION /ACTION ITEMS:
A. City Council Presentation Schedule
i. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, informed Teen Council
members that the presentation at the December 18 City Council meeting
will be rescheduled for a future date and asked that each Ad Hoc select
at least one representative to attend the presentation.
B. Teen Cupcake Challenge
i. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, reminded Teen Council
members of the upcoming Teen Cupcake Challenge on January 31,
2025, and suggested promoting via distribution of fliers, word of mouth,
and Moorpark High School's broadcasting program, "Musketeer
Mornings".
ii. Teen Council members decided on keeping the previously decided
secret ingredient from the cancelled November 8 Teen Cupcake
Challenge.

C. Breakfast with Santa
i. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, reviewed the details of the
upcoming Breakfast with Santa event at the Arroyo Vista Recreation
Center and asked Teen Council members to bring at least one friend
with them to the event to help volunteer.
D. Holiday Movie Marathon
i. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, confirmed there were not any
additional volunteers needed beyond the Teen Council members that
had already signed up to volunteer for the Holiday Movie Marathon event
and informed them that she would send out an email prior to the event to
remind them of the details.
E. Teen Drive-In Movie Event
i. Teen Council Member, Alison Jimenez, proposed a new teen event
where teens could attend a drive-in movie along with other attractions at
Arroyo Vista Community Park and Recreation Coordinator I Hilary
Kleiman, suggested Alison discuss planning and logistics with the
Events/Programs Ad Hoc.
F. Meeting Decorum
i. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman, reminded Teen Council
members of expected meeting decorum including keeping cell phones
put away for personal use, actively listening to other Teen Council
members while they are speaking, and submitting notification if they are
aware they will be absent for a meeting.
G. Ad Hoc Updates
i. Government Relations Ad Hoc member, Abraham Jeong, shared that
the Government Relations Ad Hoc is waiting on the rescheduled City
Council meeting presentation date to prepare a presentation.
ii. Events/Program Ad Hoc members Dylan Montelibano and Katelyn Craft
shared that the Events/Program Ad Hoc is working on creating a music
playlist, finalizing the soda menu, and selecting an inflatable attraction
for the Teen After Dark event. Recreation Coordinator I, Hilary Kleiman,
reminded the Events/Program Ad Hoc to start brainstorming and begin
the planning of a new teen event or program for next year.
iii. Social Issues Ad Hoc member, Elijah Luekenga, shared that the Social
Issues Ad Hoc is awaiting the creation of the Teen Council Instagram
account and that they are preparing to meet with the Moorpark High
School's Wellness Center for a peer meeting in January where they can
propose their idea of a wellness event.
iv. Social Outreach Ad Hoc member, Caden Hafer, shared the Social
Outreach Ad Hoc is ready to start promoting teen events using a Teen
Council Instagram account and proposed the name
"moorparkteencouncil" for the account name. Recreation Coordinator I,
Hilary Kleiman, informed Teen Council members that she would notify
them once the account has been successfully created and suggested
they start working on posts to promote on the account.
