KANE City Attorney NIALL FRITZ Director of Community Development R. DENNIS DELZEIT City Engineer JOHN V. GILLESPIE Chief of Police The City Council Public Works Committee (Mayor Prieto and Council- member Yancy-Sutton) met concerning the matter of Street Sweeping. It is recommended that the City Council direct staff to develop specifications to permit the solicitation of proposals from qualified firms to provide this service. Proposals would be requested for monthly, bi-weekly and weekly schedules. It should be noted that while street sweeping as a street maintenance item is excluded from formal public bidding procedures, we will informally follow that process to provide competitive and comparative proposals. In the event the City ultimately decides to contract for street sweeping, staff should be directed at this time to contact the appropriate CalTrans officials to begin preliminary preparation of an agreement to permit the City to sweep portions of State Highways 23 and 118 within the City. As in other communities, CalTrans would reimburse the City for costs related to this activity. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Direct staff to proceed as outlined in the memorandum. 799 Moorpark Avenue Moorpark, California 93021 (805) 529-6864
