Attached is a staff report submitted to the Moorpark City Council
at the November 3 , 1986 City Council Meeting. As discussed in the
memorandum, the Historical Society has been investigating the possible
use of the Southern California Edison Building located at the corner
of Gabbert Road and Los Angeles Avenue as the future museum site.
The use of the above mentioned site for such purposes requires a
lease agreement with Southern California Edison. Unfortunately,
the date of finalization of terms and acceptance ( should it be approved)
is not known.
As discussed a the November 3 , 1986 City Council Meeting, the Moorpark
Boys and Girls Club desires to acquire the property at the northwest
corner of the Community Center Park that was previously committed
to the Historical Society. However, the application by the
Historical society is still tentative with Southern California Edison
and, therefore, they currently desire not to relinquish the previous
commitment for the property noted.
The action taken by the City Council at the November 3, 1986 meeting
was to proceed with the recommendation of staff, which was to:
1 . To direct City staff and the Mayor to meet with the appropriate
representatives from the Boys and Girls Club and the Historical
Society to discuss the site north of the Moorpark Community
Center.
2 . Te continue correspondence with Southern California Edison in
regards to the status of the Historical Society' s lease application.
3 . To report the findings and results of the meetings and research
to the City Council at the regularly scheduled December 1, 1986
City Council Meeting.
