Genovese, Deputy City ManagerAf /t" June 9, 1988 Health Benefit Plan The current Health Benefit Plan for the City of Moorpark is due to expire on June 30, 1988. The City Staff has therefore been working ·with the City's broker to obtain new quotes for the upcoming fiscal year. The broker has been able to provide the City with several alternatives for both health and dental coverage. Attached as Exhibit 11 A II is a brief description of the premium rates and coverage for each of the plans reviewed and discussed with the employees as part of the "meet and confer" process. As indicated on Exhibit II A 11 , the Health Benefit Plans under review offered several alternatives of combined programs for both medical and dental, as well as prescription drug card availability. After review with the City employees, the employees concur with the Staff recommendation of the combined coverage of First Farwest for medical coverage and Bankers of Nebraska for dental coverage. This plan will increase the cost of Health Benefit Plan coverage by 2% to 5% for the next fiscal year and these rates will be in effect for one full year as opposed to the six-month quote obtained during the last Health Benefit Plan review. These increased figures are currently included in the proposed budget. The City Staff is requesting authorization from the City Council to enter into an agreement with First Far West and Bankers of Nebraska for medical and dental coverage respectively. All other facets of the Health Benefit Plan, such as the LTD coverage and vision coverage, will remain the same. 799 Moorpark Avenue Moorpark, California 93021 (805) 529-6864 The Honorable City Council June 9, 1988 Page 2 RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the Mayor to execute the necessary agreements on behalf of the City for Health Benefit Plan coverage as recommended by the City Staff. cm.8692 Attachments EXHIBIT A • Tolman & Wiker, Inc.
