SUBJECT: Regulations of Transporting Hazardous Waste
In talking with the County Environmental Health Department
it was found that any haulers of hazardous waste are required
to conform to a variety of state laws set forth by the Environmental
Health Department . These laws include :
1 . A yearly registration with the State.
2 . Yearly inspections with the California Highway Patrol .
3 . Whenever carrying hazardous waste , truckers must
carry a detailed list of goods transported.
It was also found that for any spills occuring within the county,
the county has a 24-hour Spill Response Plan which will immediately
notify the Police Department , the Fire Department , and the Environmental
Health Department .
The County Environmental Health Department was very helpful in
supplying information regarding the transportation of hazardous waste
and informed me that a representative of the Environmental Health
Department would be happy to come out and talk with the City Council
if there are any further questions .
