HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 2003 1015 CC SPCMINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL Moorpark, California October 15, 2003 A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Moorpark was held on October 15, 2003, in the Community Center of said City located at 799 Moorpark Avenue, Moorpark, California. 1. CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Pro Tempore Millhouse called the meeting to order at 6:25 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmembers Harper, Mikos, Parvin, and Mayor Pro Tempore Millhouse. Absent: Mayor Hunter (arrived at 6:37 p.m.) Staff Present: Steven Kueny, City Manager; and Deborah Traffenstedt, Assistant to City Manager /City Clerk. 3. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. 4. CLOSED SESSION: Mr. Kueny announced that the City Council would be going into closed session for discussion of one case under Item 4.B and Item 4.C. MOTION: Councilmember Harper moved and Councilmember Mikos seconded a motion to adjourn to closed session for a discussion of one case under Item 4.B. and Item 4.C. The motion carried by voice vote 4 -0, Mayor Hunter absent. The time was 6:25 p.m. B. CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL - ANTICIPATED LITIGATION Initiation of litigation pursuant to Subdivision (c) of Section 54956.9 of the Government Code: (Number of cases to be discussed - 4) Minutes of the City Council Moorpark, California Page 2 October 15, 2003 C. CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL - EXISTING LITIGATION (Subdivision (a) of Section 54956.9) The Committee to Preserve Historic High Street, an unincorporated association, and Cynthia Hollister vs. City of Moorpark and Moorpark City Council. Present in closed session were Councilmembers Harper, Mikos, Parvin, and Mayor Pro Tempore Millhouse; Steven Kueny, City Manager; and Deborah Traffenstedt, Assistant to City Manager /City Clerk. Special Legal Counsel Michael Jenkins of Jenkins & Hogin arrived at 6:26 p.m., prior to discussion of one case under Item 4.B., and Mayor Hunter arrived at 6:37 p.m., during discussion of one case under Item 4.B. Mr. Jenkins left the meeting at 7:10 p.m. Joseph Montes, City Attorney, and Barry Hogan, Community Development Director arrived at 7 :11 p.m. for discussion of Item 4.C. The Council reconvened into open session at 7:20 p.m. Mr. Kueny stated that one case under Item 4.B. and Item 4.C. were discussed and that there was no action to report. 5.
