HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 1987 0321 CC SPCMINUTES OF THE TOWN HALL MEETING Moorpark__California _ _ _ _ , March 21, 1987 The first Town Hall Meeting of the City of Moorpark was held on March 21, 1987, in the Council Chambers of City Hall of said City, located at 799 Moorpark Avenue, Moorpark, California. 1. CALL TO ORDER: The Town Hall Meeting was called to order by Mayor Clint Harper at 9:50 a.m. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Councilmember Galloway. 3. ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmembers Eloise Brown, Thomas Ferguson, John Galloway, Bernardo Perez and Mayor Clint Harper. Steven Kueny, City Manager; Patrick Richards, Director of Community Development; Dennis Delzeit, City Engineer; John Knipe, Assistant City Engineer; Lt. Mike Brown, Sheriff's Department; Gerald Forde, Director of Community Services; Thomas P. Genovese, Director of Administrative Services; and Maureen W. Wall, City Clerk. 4. TOPICS OF DISCUSSION WITH PUBLIC PARTICIPATION: A. Status Report on Current_ Projects_ in the City including the Tierra Rejada Bridge, Los Angeles Avenue widening project, Princeton Avenue Signal, Peach Hill Park Improvements, Measure "F" Implementation, General Plan Update and other street, park, community development, and administrative projects. Steven Kueny, City Manager, introduced each staff member present outlining each one's areas of responsibilities. Those present reviewed the list of Current City Projects /Activities for each area. B. Desired Goals and Priorities for the City. The thirty -five to forty citizens present voiced concerns that there would be a delay in the construction of the traffic_ signal at Princeton Avenue, that Moorpark Road should be renamed to Spring Street (as it was previously), that there should be more citizen involvement in the preparation of the budget, and that the downtown area needed more parking spaces. They additionally requested a traffic signal at the intersection of Peach Hill Road and Tierra Rejada Road, requested street signs be changed to indicate High Street as opposed to Highway 118, requested resolution of traffic congestion problems within the City with the possibility of a lobbying effort in Sacramento to resolve those problems. Citizens also suggested the City produce a news letter with each Councilmember writing a section to inform the City what projects they are working on, and soliciting responses from the citizens. 6. ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 11:53 a.m. to Wednesday, March 25, 1987 at 7:00 p.m. on a motion by Councilmember Brown, seconded by Councilmember Perez, and approved unanimously on a voice vote. .LJ • 1 i Clint D.
