HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 1993 0821 CC SPCMINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL TOWN HALL MEETING Moorpark, California August 21, 1993 A Special Town Hall Meeting of the City Council of the City of Moorpark was held on August 21, 1993 in Mahan Hall at the United Methodist Church, 261 Flory Avenue, Moorpark, California. 1. CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Lawrason called the meeting to order at 9:15 a.m. 2. Present: Councilmembers Montgomery, Perez, Wozniak and Mayor Lawrason Steven Kueny, City Manager; Lieutenant Dean, Sheriff's Department; and Lillian Hare, City Clerk 3. COUNCIL COMMENTS: None. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT: Ron Golden questioned the Council regarding the permit parking program under consideration. He suggested that no parking for street sweeping would be a better approach. He said parking should be restricted on both sides of the street. He said that would largely solve the overcrowding problem as it related to vehicles. He said if the Council were to consider Area H, the line should be drawn at Millard and there should be signs posted at all four entrances after doing a mailing to notify the residents. He said Area H is too big. Eloise Brown spoke regarding the permit parking ordinance. She stated that the Council would create hard feelings in a neighborhood by requiring a petition to institute permit parking. Dr. Everett Braun spoke regarding the permit parking ordinance. He suggested limiting each residence to four cars only. He agreed that a petition could cause "hard feelings" in a neighborhood. Lt. Dean indicated that an ordinance disallowing parking of non - motorized vehicles on the street would be helpful. Teresa Jones said in other areas of the city where there is no concern with overcrowding, a problem will be created for households where children drive cars. She said in her household there was no way that all the drivers can park in the garage and on the driveway. Minutes of the City Council Moorpark, California 2 Feb3tA� 20, 1993 Dr. Everett Braun asked the status of the negotiations for the Casey Road School site property for a downtown park. Dr. Braun also indicated he was "appalled" that the School District was charging youth groups for facilities use. Ethel Sulkis said that a fence was needed around the construction area at the Kmart shopping center. Connie Lawrason reported that on the north side of westbound SR 118, as you're leaving town, there were agricultural workers who were not looking as they sped into the traffic when leaving their job site. 5.
