HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 1998 1216 CC SPCMINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL Moorpark, California December 16, 1998 A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Moorpark was held on December 16, 1998 in the Community Center of said City located at 799 Moorpark Avenue, Moorpark, California. 1. CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Hunter called the meeting to order at 6:50 p.m. 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Deferred to Regular City Council meeting. 3. ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmembers Evans, Harper, Rodgers, Wozniak, and Mayor Hunter. _ Staff Present: Steven Kueny, City Manager; John Nowak, Assistant City Manager; Mary Lindley, Director of Community Services; Don Reynolds, Administrative Services Manager; and Deborah Traffenstedt, City Clerk. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. 5. PRESENTATION /ACTION /DISCUSSION: A. Consider Rejection of an Application for Leave to Present a Late Claim Against the City. Staff Recommendation: Reject the application to file a late claim pursuant to Government Code 911.8, in the case of Lopez /Rivera v. Moorpark, and transmit a letter informing them (and /or their attorneys) of this decision. Mr. Kueny gave the staff report. MOTION: Mayor Hunter moved and Councilmember Evans seconded a motion to reject the application to file a late claim pursuant to Government Code 911.8, in the case of Minutes of the City Council Moorpark, California Page 2 December 16, 1998 Lopez /Rivera v. Moorpark, and transmit a letter informing them (and /or their attorneys) of this decision. The motion carried by unanimous voice vote. AT THIS POINT in the meeting, the Council took a recess. The time was 6:55 p.m. The Council reconvened at 7:02 p.m. B. Consider Revised Composition of Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC). Staff Recommendation: Direct staff as deemed appropriate. Mr. Kueny gave the staff report. Councilmember Wozniak commented on the proposed composition of VCTC. Mayor Hunter stated the City Selection Committee had discussed the composition of VCTC at the meeting of December 14, 1998. He stated the proposal was for VCTC to be similar in structure to the Ventura Council of Governments (VCOG). He indicated it was necessary for each City to take a position. MOTION: Mayor Hunter moved and Councilmember Wozniak seconded a motion to support the proposed change to the composition of VCTC. The motion carried by unanimous voice vote. 6.
