HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 2004 0121 CC SPCMINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL Moorpark, California January 21, 2004 A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Moorpark was held on January 21, 2004, in the Community Center of said City located at 799 Moorpark Avenue, Moorpark, California. 1. CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Hunter called the meeting to order at 6:39 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmembers Harper, Mikos, Millhouse, Parvin, and Mayor Hunter. Staff Present: Steven Kueny, City Manager; Joseph Montes, City Attorney; Richard Terzian, Special Legal Counsel; Hugh Riley, Assistant City Manager; Ken Gilbert, Public Works Director; Barry Hogan, Community Development Director; Brad Miller, City Engineer; Nancy Burns, Senior Management Analyst; and Deborah Traffenstedt, Assistant to City Manager /City Clerk. 3. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. 4. PRESENTATION /ACTION /DISCUSSION: A. Consider Rescinding Authorization to Purchase 81 Charles Street, to Enable the Redevelopment Agency to Purchase Said Property. Staff Recommendation: Rescind action taken on January 16, 2004, to purchase 81 Charles Street, to enable the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Moorpark to become the purchaser. Mr. Kueny gave the staff report. In response to Mayor Hunter, Ms. Traffenstedt stated that there were no speakers. Minutes of the City Council Moorpark, California Paqe 2 January 21, 2004 MOTION: Councilmember Parvin moved and Councilmember Harper seconded a motion to rescind the Council's action taken on January 16, 2004, to direct staff to purchase 81 Charles Street, to enable the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Moorpark to become the purchaser. The motion carried by unanimous voice vote. AT THIS POINT in the meeting, Mr. Montes left the meeting. The time was 6:40 p.m. 5. CLOSED SESSION: Mr. Kueny stated that the Council would be going into closed session for discussion of one case under Item 5.B. MOTION: Councilmember Millhouse moved and Councilmember Harper seconded a motion to go into closed session for discussion of one case under Item 5.B. The motion carried by unanimous voice vote. B. CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL - ANTICIPATED LITIGATION Initiation of litigation pursuant to Subdivision (c) of Section 54956.9 of the Government Code: (Number of cases to be discussed - 4) Present in closed session were Councilmembers Harper, Mikos, Millhouse, Parvin, and Mayor Hunter; Steven Kueny, City Manager; Richard Terzian, Special Legal Counsel; Hugh Riley, Assistant City Manager; Ken Gilbert, Public Works Director; Barry Hogan, Community Development Director; Brad Miller, City Engineer; Nancy Burns, Senior Management Analyst; and Deborah Traffenstedt, Assistant to City Manager /City Clerk. The Council convened into open session at 6:53 p.m. Mr. Kueny announced that one case under Item 5.B. was discussed and that there was no action to report out of closed session.
