HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 1989 1115 CC SPCMINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL Moorpark, California November 15, 1989 The Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Moorpark, California was held on November 15, 1989, in the Council Chambers of City Hall of said City, located at 799 Moorpark Avenue, Moorpark, California. 1. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Mayor Brown at 6:20 a.m. 2. ROLL CALL: Present: Councilmembers Harper, Perez, Montgomery, Lawrason and Mayor Brown Steven Kueny, City Manager; Virginia Pesola, Acting City Attorney; Richard Hare, Deputy City Manager; and Lillian Kellerman, City Clerk. 3. Consider Letter of Support Long Beach Equities y. City of Simi Valley The Council discussed sending a letter in support of Simi Valley's petition to the court of appeal in the Long Beach Equities case which Simi's Special Counsel indicated could potentially make every city in Ventura County liable for damages to owners of land outside its city limits. CONSENSUS: By consensus the Council determined to ask Kathy Stone, Special Counsel for the City of Simi Valley, to draft a letter for the Mayor to sign after review by the City Attorney; the City Attorney to expend no more than one hour of time on the matter. 4. CLOSED SESSION MOTION: Councilmember Harper moved and Councilmember Montgomery seconded a motion to adjourn to Closed Session for the following items: A. Personnel. B. Potential litigation pursuant. to Government Code Section 54956.9(b)(1). C. Potential litigation pursuant ;.o Government Code Section 54956.9(c). D. Litigation concerning City of Moorpark vs. Moorpark Unified School District. E. Litigation concerning Moorpark Unified School District vs. City of Moorpark. Negotiation for real property at 289 Casey Road (former high school site - Moorpark Unified School District) pursuant to Government Code Section 54945.8. G. Litigation concerning City of Moorpark vs. Southern California Edison. H. Litigation concerning Villa Del Arroyo vs. City of Moorpark. I. Litigation concerning City of Moorpark vs. Fedelety Corporation (Arroyo Vista Park). J. Litigation concerning Ventura County Community College District vs. City of Moorpark. K. Litigation concerning the County of Ventura vs. City of Moorpark. L. Litigation concerning Rosenkrantz vs. City of Moorpark. The motion carried by unanimous voice vote. The Council reconvened into open session at 7:02 p.m. Mr. Kueny stated that there was no action to report out of Closed Session and that only items 4.0., 4.F., and 4.H. had been discussed. 5.
