A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA, ADDING A NEW
CLASSIFICATION AND JOB DESCRIPTION TO THE
CLASSIFICATION PLAN FOR THE COMPETITIVE SERVICE
OF THE CITY, AS ADOPTED BY RESOLUTION NO. 85 -205
ON JUNE 3, 1985.
THE CITY COUNCIL 'OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA,
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That a new classification and the position description therefor
be added to the Classification Plan for the Competitive Service of the City, adopted
June 3, 1985, by Resolution No. 85 -205, entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING A CLASSIFICATION
PLAN FOR THE COMPETITIVE SERVICE
which said new classification shall be designated
"Senior Planner"
A copy of said position description is attached hereto and designated EXHIBIT A.
SECTION 2. That this resolution shall take effect immediately.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption
of this resolution.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 24th day of February 1986.

CITY OF MOORPARK
SENIOR PLANNER
DEFINITION
Under general direction, independently performs professional planning work,
assists the Director of Community Development in planning matters and
administration of contracts; and performs related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Participates in the development and implementation of planning goals, objectives
and policies; reviews studies with respect to natural resources, utilization of
land, traffic systems, public services and facilities, etc.; participates in
preparation of the City General Plan; reviews and processes land use permit
applications, including subdivision maps; prepares and processes environmental
documents; appears before the Planning Commission, City Council and citizens'
organizations on planning matters; conducts research, compiles, analyzes and
interprets information; prepares written reports and makes recommendations,
coordinates and works with consultants and other City staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience - A Bachelor's Degree, from an accredited college or
university, with major course work in planning or a related field, and at least
three years of progressively responsible experience in professional planning,
with at least two of the three years experience with public agencies. Some
supervisory experience in municipal planning and a Master's Degree in planning
or a related field are desirable.
Knowledge and Abilities - Knowledge of principles and accepted practices of
urban planning, including architecture and site design; research and statistical
methods; Federal, State and local laws and regulations relating to planning and
land use, including the, Subdivision Map Act and CEQA, and principles of
supervision.
Ability to - Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, and
to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Pursuant to the applicable Personnel Rules and Regulations, this classification
is exempt from the payment of overtime and /or compensatory time off.

Resolution No. 86 -279 was adopted by the City Council of the City
of Moorpark at an adjourned regular meeting thereof held on the
24th day of February , 19 86 and that the same was
adopted by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Yancy- Sutton, Woolard, Ferguson,
Prieto and Mayor Weak;
NOES: None;
ABSENT: None.
