HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES CC 1988 486 1988 0706RESOLUTION NO. 88- 486 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE SPECIAL MO ICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON JUNE 7, 199$, AND DECLARING THE RESULTS AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS REQUIRED BY LAW. WHEREAS, a Special Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Moorpark, California, on Tuesday, June 7, 1988, as required by law; and WHEREAS, notice of the election was duly and regularly given in time, form and manner as provided by law, voting precincts were properly established, election officers were appointed, and in all respects, the election was held and conducted and the votes were cast, received and canvassed and the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California for holding of elections in cities; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 88 -447, adopted February 10, 1988, the County Clerk of Ventura County canvassed the returns of the Special Municipal Election held for the purpose of submitting a question or measure to the qualified electors of the City changing the appropriations limit of the City of Moorpark for Fiscal Years 19W/87 through 1989/90 be equal to the proceeds to be used to maintain essential City services and to supplement the City's capital improvements budget for police, streets and parks; and the County Clerk has certified the results to this City Council, and the results are received, attached and made a part hereof as "Exhibit A"• NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDFR AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the measure voted upon at the Special Election is as follows: Shall an Ordinance be adopted changing the appropriations limit of the City of Moorpark for fiscal years 1986/87 through 1989/90 to be equal to the proceeds of taxes received by the City with the additional available proceeds to be used to maintain essential City services and to supplement the City's capital improvements budget for police, streets, and parks? This change in the appropriations limit will not cause an increase in the property t.ax rate. That the whole number of votes cast in the city, except absent voter ballots was 3,318. That the whole number of absent voter ballots cast in the City was 386, making a total nf' i,704 votes cast in the City on this measure. That the number of votes given in the City fnr• and against the measure were as listed on Exhibit A attached The City does declare and determine that: The appropriations limit of the City of Moorpark for Fiscal Years 1986/87 through 1989/90 shall be equal to the proceeds of taxes received by the City with the additional available proceeds to be used to maintain essential City services and to supplement the City's capital improvements budget for polica, streets and parks. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City Council of the City, a statement of the result of the Special Municipal Election, showing: 1. The whole number of votes cast in the City; 2. The measures voted upon; 3. The number of votes given at each precinct. for and against the measures; 4. The number of votes given in the City for and against the measure; SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution and shall enter it into the book of original Resolutions.
