Home My WebLink AboutRES CC 1988 525 1988 1129RESOLUTION NO. 88- 525 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 8, 1988, AND DECLARING THE RESULTS AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS REQUIRED BY LAW. WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Moorpark, California, on Tuesday, November 8, 1988, as required by law; and, WHEREAS, notice of the election was duly and regularly given in time, form and manner as provided by law, voting precincts were properly established, election officers were appointed, and in all respects, the election was held and conducted and the votes were cast, received and canvassed and the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California for holding of elections in cities; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 88 -481, adopted June 29, 1988, the County Clerk of Ventura County canvassed the returns of the General Municipal Election held for the purpose of electing three members of the City Council of the City for the full term of four years, and for the purpose of submitting questions or measures to the qualified electors of the City as to whether they shall elect a Mayor and four City Councilmembers, and whether the Mayor shall serve a two -year or four -year term; and the County Clerk has certified the results to this City Council, and the results are received, attached and made a part hereof as "Exhibit A" and "Exhibit B "; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the names of persons Municipal Election for -three members of full terms of four years are as follows: Thomas C. "Bud" Ferguson Scott Montgomery Leta Yancy - Sutton Lynn Tingirides John Galloway Bernardo M. Perez Paul W. Lawrason, Jr. Bill LaPerrh John C. Roberts voted for at the General the City Council for the That the whole number of votes cast in the City, except absent voter ballots was 7,635. That the whole number of absent voter ballots cast in the City was 1,208 making a total of 8,843 votes in the City. That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given in the City to each such persons above named for the respective offices for which the persons were candidates, were as listed in "Exhibit A" attached. The City does declare and determine that: BERNARDO M. PEREZ, PAUL W. LAWRASON, JR. AND SCOTT MONTGOMERY were elected as Members of the City Council of the City of Moorpark, for full four year terms; The City Clerk shall immediately make and deliver to the persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed by the City Clerk and duly authenticated. The City Clerk shall also administer to the persons elected the Oath of Office prescribed in the State Constitution of the State of California and shall have them subscribe to it and file it in the Office of the City Clerk. The persons so elected shall then be inducted into the respective office to which he has been elected. SECTION 2. That the measure voted upon at the General Municipal Election is as follows: Shall the electors elect a Mayor and four City Councilmen and shall the term of office of Mayor be two years or four years. That the whole number of votes cast in the City, except absent voter ballots was 7,631. That the whole number of absent voter ballots cast in the City was 1,203 making a total of 8,834 votes cast in the City on this measure. That the number of votes given in the City for and against the measure were as listed on "Exhibit B" attached. The City does declare and determine that: The electors of the City shall elect a Mayor and four Councilmembers, and the Mayoral term of office shall be two years. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City Council of the City, a statement of the result of the General Municipal Election, showing: 1. The whole number of votes cast in the City; 2. The names of the persons voted for and what office each person was voted for; 3. The measures voted upon; 4. The number of votes given at each precinct for each person and for and against the measures; 5. The number of votes given in the City for each person and for and against the measure; -2- SECTION 4.
