HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES CC 1990 674 1990 0516RESOLUTION NO. 674 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK TO ENCOURAGE VOLUNTARY WATER CONSERVATION WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Water District, the Calleguas Municipal Water District and Ventura County Waterworks District No. 1 have determined there is a need for a ten percent reduction in water use; and WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Water District has determined that voluntary water conservation will meet this objective; and WHEREAS, the intent of the voluntary water conservation program is to maintain water in State Water Project storage for use if the drought continues. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Moorpark that residents are encouraged to: 1. Check for and repair leaks in pipes, faucets and toilets. 2. Sweep walks and driveways, don't use a hose. 3. Water landscaping during the cool early morning (before 8:00 a.m.) or evening hours (after 6:00 P.M.). 4. Eliminate water runoff from landscaping and only water the lawn when it needs it. Step on it; if it springs back it does not need water. 5. Wash full loads of dishes and clothes on the water - saving setting. 6. Reduce the length of showers, and turn off water when lathering. Install restrictive washers in faucets and shower heads until replacement is needed; then install low flow faucet and shower heads. 7. Turn off water when cleaning and paring vegetables, or when brushing teeth. 8. Cover swimming pools and spas when not in use. 9. Wash the car with a bucket, in the shade if possible. Only use the hose for rinsing. 10. Minimize use of the garbage disposal. 'k, Resolution No. 674 Page 2 11. Use a plastic bottle to displace water in the toilet tank to reduce the water used with each flush. 12. Catch water in a bucket when warming water for a bath or shower and use it for watering plants. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a flyer be sent with the assessment districts' annual public hearing notice to advise residents of the critical need to voluntarily conserve water.
