A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK,
CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING THE CITY'S PARATRANSIT
PLAN UPDATE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE AMERICANS
WITH DISABILITIES ACT OF 1990.
WHEREAS, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) was
enacted into law on July 26, 1990, amending civil rights
legislation to provide rights to access, employment,
telecommunication, pubic accommodation, and transportation to
persons with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, Title Ii of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990
requires all public transportation providers to develop and submit
paratransit plans to the U. S. Department of Transportation by
January 26, 1992 and Plan updates by January 26 each year
thereafter;
WHEREAS, a Public Hearing was held on January 18, 1995, as required
by the Act, to hear public comment regarding the proposed
Paratransit Plan Update;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK,
CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Adopt the City's Paratransit Plan, attached
hereto as Attachment A.
SECTION 2. That the

Who is Eligible to use Paratransit
Services?
To be eligible for Parat-
ransit Service, individuals
must be unable to use the.
fixed route bus service
because:
• they are unable to
board, ride, or dis-
embark an accessible
fixed route bus;
• they are able to use a
fixed route bus, but a
fixed route bus is not
available;
• their disability or
condition prevents „
travel to or from a
ed route bus stop.
Limitations
All requests will be pro-
cessed on a first contact
basis within Moorpark
Transit's service area and
hours of operation.
Accessibility
The City's bus is equipped
with a wheel - chair lift, mak-
ing it accessible for most
individuals. However, you
are encouraged to communicate
any special requirements you
may have in advance. This
will help us meet you needs
in a timely and efficient
manner.
THE AMERICANS WITH
DISABILITIES ACT OF 1990
The Americans with- Disabili-
ties Act (ADA) is a Federal
law which provides comprehen-
sive civil rights entitlement
for individuals with disabil-
ities. The ADA prohibits
discrimination on the basis
of disability in employment,
transportation, public accom-
modations, telecommunica-
tions, and public services.

Paratransit Service What Is Its
Paratransit service is a
door -to -door transportation
service designed to meet the
needs of individuals with
disabilities.
How Does It Operate?
The City operates a fixed
route/ route deviated
paratransit system. Since
the City has only one bus,
the system will operate as
follows: the bus will deviate -
from its. fixed route at an
appropriate point to pick up
a certified paratransit
riders and will then return
to the same point to continue
the fixed route. The bus
will deviate again to deliver
the paratransit rider to
their destination.

Service Hours and Days
Paratransit service is pro-
vided Monday through Friday
between the hours of 7:15 a . m
and 4:30 p.m.
Exceptions for holidays ob-
served by the City including:
New Years Day
Martin Luther King
Presidents Day
Memorial Day
Fourth of July
Labor Day
Veterans Day
Thanksgiving
Christmas Day
Cost
Each one -way ride costs $.75.
There is no charge for a per-
sonal care attendant, if re-
quired.
Service Area
Paratransit service is limit-
ed to the City of Moorpark.
The City is not required to
pick up a paratransit rider
at a location more than 3/4 a
mile off the fixed route.
Reservations and:
Cancellations
To make a reservation, you
must call 24 hours prior to
your date of travel and no
more than 14 days in advance.
