A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MOORPARK, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING COOPERATIVE
EFFORTS TO PERMANENTLY PRESERVE OPEN SPACE AND
AGRICULTURAL LANDS IN THE TIERRA REJADA GREENBELT
WHEREAS, in 1984 the city of Moorpark adopted a joint Resolution
with the City Councils of the cities of Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks
and the Board of Supervisors of the County of Ventura establishing a
Greenbelt within the Tierra Rejada Valley (Moorpark City Council
Resolution No. 84 -110 was adopted on July 2, 1984); and
WHEREAS, in the intervening years the city of Moorpark has
looked at strengthening the Tierra Rejada Greenbelt Agreement to
preclude urban uses; and
WHEREAS, joint efforts by the cities of Moorpark, Simi Valley,
and Thousand Oaks and the County of Ventura are needed to achieve
permanent preservation of open space and agricultural lands within
the Tierra Rejada Greenbelt.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOORPARK DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the city of Moorpark supports the
continued preservation of open space and agricultural lands in the
Tierra Rejada Greenbelt through joint public agency efforts to
preserve said properties for permanent open space and agricultural
purposes.
SECTION 2. The City Council of the city of Moorpark requests
that the City Councils of the cities of Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks
and the Board of Supervisors of the County of Ventura work
cooperatively to develop a preservation /conservation plan and apply
for open space preservation funds to jointly preserve lands within
the Tierra Rejada Greenbelt area.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution and shall cause a certified resolution to be filed in the
book of original resolutions.
