March 27, 1984
The regular meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order at
7:07 p.m. with all members present except Commissioner Prieto.
The minutes of March 13, 1984, were approved.
Item 4 - General Plan Amendment 84 -1
Staff requested that this item be continued to the next regularly scheduled
meeting. Upon motion of Commissioner Weak, seconded by Commissioner Miller,
the Commission continued this matter to April 10, 1984.
Item 5 - Commission Comments
Commissioner Schleve inquired as to the process for the Commission to initiate
General Plan restudies of portions of the City.
Commissioner Miller inquired as to the sch.eiiuling of the "fine tuning" of
the Land Use and Circulation Elements. Staff responded that to date no
time had been available to commence work on this program, but that as soon
as other scheduling permitted it would be commenced. A concern was also
expressed regarding earth filling activities behind the ChevxanrStation at
the southeast corner of Moorpark Road and Los Angeles Avenue.
Chairman Hartley inquired about the process for obtaining grading permits and
the circumstances under which those permits are reviewed. He also raised
for discussion purposes the possible need for audio - visual equipment for
presentations to the Commissions. After discussion the Commission requested
that in the future slides be provided showing project sites. A request was
also made for a representative of County Waterworks District No. 1 to provide
a general update on District activities to the Commission, especially the
planned water tank and new water line in the Gabbert Road area. April 24,
was identified as the earliest possible date to accomodate such a presentation.
Members of the Commission also discussed the possible need for revisions to
the City's sign regulations. There was a brief discussion of the possibility
of revising the entire zoning ordinance and Ahe cost of such a program.
Item 6 - Director of Community Development Comments
The scheduling of a joint meeting with the City Council was discussed. All
Commissioners agreed that Wednesday April 25, would be an acceptable date to
them.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 7:37 p.m.
