MINUTES OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
SPECIAL MEETING - PARK TOUR (10:00 a.m.)
Moorpark, California
1. CALL TO ORDER:
October 17, 2004
Chair Catrambone called the meeting to order at 10:09 a.m.
2. ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioners Thomas Pflaumer, Sandra Thompson,
Julie Weisberger, and Chair Joseph Catrambone. Commissioner
Quentin DeGuardi was absent.
Staff present: Mary Lindley, Director of Community
Services; Allen Walter, Supervisor of Maintenance and
Operations; and Patty Lemcke, Administrative Secretary.
At Mary Lindley's recommendation, due to the rain the
Commission reordered the agenda, beginning with
Discussion /Action Item 4.A and then proceeding with the
Park Tour.
4. DISCUSSION /ACTION ITEMS:
A. Consider Play Equipment for Mountain Meadows Park.
Staff Recommendation: Provide a recommendation on the
playground equipment design for Mountain Meadows Park
for consideration by the City Council.
Mary Lindley gave an overview on the new proposed
design, to include the Supernova and to delete the
RockBlocks. Ms. Lindley also stated that the Supernova
may have to be placed in another location than what
was shown in the diagram, to meet ADA requirements.
The Commission and staff discussed colors and
preferred roof design.
MOTION: Commissioner Weisberger moved to approve staff's
recommendation on the play equipment design and color,
including the elimination of the RockBlocks.
Commissioner Thompson seconded. The motion was carried
4 -0. Commissioner DeGuardi was absent.

3. PARK TOUR:
The Commission and staff toured the following parks:
1. Poindexter Park: The Commission and staff discussed
the newly purchased property, a probable location for
the proposed skatepark, proposed joint parking with
Chaparral School, and well as proposed joint use of
their gym.
2. Villa Campesina Park: The Commission viewed the new
park improvements.
3. Glenwood Park: The Commission and staff discussed the
installation of the RockBlocks, the proposed restroom,
and the suggestion of lights at the basketball court.
4. Arroyo Vista Community Park: The Commission and staff
discussed the Saturday parking situation with the
sports organizations and some probable solutions.
MOTION: Commissioner Pflaumer moved that staff be asked to
pursue enforcing the agreement with Packer Football to
relocate their power lines underground in an effort to
better fit with the new park improvements.
Commissioner Thompson seconded. The motion was carried
4 -0. Commissioner DeGuardi was absent.
5. Tierra Rejada Park: The Commission and staff discussed
removing the swing set in the tot lot, which can no
longer be used because it does not fall within the
fall zone safety requirements.
6. Campus Park: The Commission and staff discussed the
repair of the restroom roof.
4. DISCUSSION /ACTION ITEMS:
B. Consider Play Equipment for Glenwood Park. Staff
Recommendation: Provide a recommendation on the
playground equipment design for Glenwood Park for
consideration by the City Council.

Mary Lindley gave a brief review of her report.
MOTION: Commissioner Thompson moved to approve staff's
recommendation to the City Council. Commissioner
Pflaumer seconded. The motion was carried 4 -0.
Commissioner DeGuardi was absent.
C. Consider Moorpark Resident Mrs. Gayle Cates' Letter to
Mayor Hunter. Staff Recommendation: Review and discuss
Mrs. Gayle Cates' letter to Mayor Hunter and his
response.
The Commission and staff reviewed and discussed Mrs.
Gayle Cates' letter, and by consensus, agreed to
consider her request when park improvements are
discussed early next year.
5. ADJOURNMENT:
Chair Catrambone adjourned the meeting at 12:31 p.m.
