PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
MINUTES OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
PARK TOUR
Moorpark, California
1. CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 10:05 a.m.
2. ROLL CALL:
March 26, 2005
Present: Commissioners Joseph Catrambone, Thomas Pflaumer,
Mark Van Dam, Julie Weisberger, and Chair Sandra Thompson.
Staff present: Mary Lindley, Director of Community
Services; Allen Walter, Supervisor of Maintenance and
Operations; and Patty Lemcke, Administrative Secretary.
3. PARK TOUR:
The Commission and staff toured the following parks:
1. Arroyo Vista Community Park:
The Commission and staff discussed the placement of a
second swing set at the east end of the park. Staff
explained the proposed redesign of the east end
parking lot to help minimize the parking and traffic
problems that arise during Packers and AYSO's seasons.
Expansion of the gym and office area was also
discussed.
2. Tierra Rejada Park:
The Commission and staff discussed the replacement of
the existing play equipment and stated that a
dedicated area for special needs children could
perhaps be established at that time.
A stop was made at Country Trail Park, requested by the
Commission, to discuss the possibility of placing a dog
park there. The Commission concluded that it was not very
feasible because of the parking situation.

3. Mountain Meadows Park:
The Commission and staff discussed the status of the
new play equipment installation. Allen Walter stated
that additional trees were planted along the wall next
to the ballfield area to help eliminate foul balls
from entering a neighbor's yard.
4. Monte Vista Park:
Mary Lindley explained the proposed landscaping for
the lower section of the park. The Commission
discussed the possibility of placing a dog park at
Monte Vista Park, but concluded that the parking is
too limited.
5. Miller Park:
Allen Walter noted that two of the tables under the
pavilion need to be replaced.
6. College View Park:
The Commission agreed that after viewing the City's
parks during the last two park tours, they feel that
College View Park is the most logical for the
placement of a dog park.
4. DISCUSSION /ACTION ITEMS:
B. Consider Park Improvements for FY 2005/06. Staff
Recommendation: Provide staff with a list of park
improvements for FY 2005/06 for City Council
consideration.
The Commission and staff once again discussed the most
logical park for a dog park and the Commission stated
that they feel College View Park would best suit the
needs of the public with parking spaces, a restroom,
and the noise factor not affecting any neighboring
homes if strict operating hours are adhered to.
