HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 1985 0710 PR SPCThe special meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission of the City of Moorpark, Was held on July 10, 1985 in the Community Center of said City, located at 799 Moorpark Ave, Moorpark California. 1. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. with Chairman Rasey presiding. 2. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Commissioners McElligott, Sabine, Zemont and Chairman Rasey ABSENT: Commissioner Roe (excused) OTHER CITY OFFICIALS & STAFF PRESENT Diane Eaton, Associate Planner Debby Harness, Recreation Coordinator Becky Hoshida, Administrative Secretary Alice Armstrong, Administrative Intern Chairman Rasey adjourned the meeting to the proposed park site of Griffin Tract 3936 the time being 6:46 p.m. The meeting was convened at the proposed parksite of Tract 3963, the time being 7:00 p.m. All Commissioners were present, except Commissioner Roe, was excused. Staff members as listed above were also present. The following were also present: Elaine Freeman, Griffin Homes Ed Ramseyer, Civil Engineer for Griffin Homes Julie Hunt, Planner for McClelland Engineers Dennis Bisner, Varsity Park Neighbor Council Lyle Richardson, Moorpark School District John Mann, reporter from News Chronical 3. BUSINESS ITEM a. GRIFFIN HOMES TRACT 3963 Elaine Freeman of Griffin Homes, made a statement to the Commission regarding the proposed project stating Griffin is working with the School District and has agreed to pay $1 Million in school fees, and in addition, dedication of a school site and a park site. She explained options ( A & B) as outlined on the proposed maps. Chairman Rasey suggested reshaping of the road, placing it next to the flood channel thus providing more land for the school and park. The Engineer agreed to research the suggestion and present his finding to the Commission on July 18th, 1985. Parks & Recreation July 10, 1985 Page 2 The Commission then moved on to review lot 475, proposed park site. Elaine Freeman explained to the Commission the savings of the school and park to have joint maintenance and property. Lyle Richardson of the School District stated they prefered not to be on a main street. The State also prefers the school not be on a main street. GRIFFIN SENIOR PARK There was discussion regarding the parking area for Griffin Senior Park. Elaine Freeman agreed to look into possible parking and report back to the Commission on July 18th. Chairman Rasey thanked everyone for their time and adjourned the meeting? to July 18, 1985 the time being 7:45 p.m. to be held in the Council Chambers, at the City Hall.
