HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 1992 0201 PR SPCITEM !T 0, MINUTES OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING Moorpark, California 2/1/92 A special meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission of the City of Moorpark was held on Saturday, February 1, 1992, beginning at the Moorpark Community Center, located at 799 Moorpark Avenue, Moorpark, California, for the purpose of conducting a tour of all the City parks. 1 CALL TO ORDER: The Meeting was called to order at 9:03 a.m. by Chairman Corzine. 2. ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioners John R. Hall, Jr., Ginger Stratton, Sandra G. Thompson, Connie Volke and Chairman Ronald W. Corzine. Staff Present: Don Reynolds, Management Analyst, and Shelly Shellabarger, Recreation Supervisor. 3. DISCUSSION /ACTION ITEMS: A. Touring of all Moorpark City Parks: A park tour of all the Moorpark City parks, existing sites only, commenced from the Community Center parking lot. The parks toured were as follows: 1. Glenwood Park: Commission considered: improving the turf, relocation of volleyball court, security lighting, safety of play equipment, locations for trash receptacles and drinking fountain. 2. South Meadows Park: Commission considered: completion of play equipment, location of three bike racks, trash receptacles, and adding a volleyball court. 3. North Meadows Park: Commission considered: condition of play equipment, modifications to ball field, modifications to slope areas near Alderglen pedestrian entrance, soccer goals and City policies regarding use of goals. Peach Hill Park: Commission considered: adding volleyball and basketball courts, playground equipment safety, and adding a second bulletin board to the restroom building. 5. Monte Vista Nature Park: Commission considered: trees for the hillside, picnic table at the top of the hill with trash receptacle, possibility of adding a pavilion and play equipment, and use of bike racks. 6. Campus Park: Commission considered condition of turf. 7. Campus Canyon Park: Commission considered: security lighting, changes to ball field, resurfacing basketball court, soccer field irrigation and need for picnic table and trash receptacle. 8. Griffin Park: Commission considered: basketball lighting, removing one volleyball court, addition of a horseshoe pit and bike rack. 4. ADJOURNMENT: The Commission reconvened at Moorpark City Hall.
