of
City of Moorpark
AGENDA REPORT
TO: The Honorable City Council
FROM: John Brand, Senior Management Analyst
DATE: May 25, 1999 (CC meeting of June 2, 1999)
SUBJECT: Consider a one year extension to an Agreement with Coach
USA Antelope Valley Bus to provide operations and
maintenance services for the Moorpark City Transit Bus.
BACKGROUND
The City currently contracts with Antelope Valley Bus (a division
of Coach USA) to maintain and operate the City Transit Bus. The
Agreement provides for an option to extend the Agreement. Their
performance has been very good. Antelope has indicated that they
are agreeable to an extension of the Agreement.
Antelope will be eligible for a modest cost of living increase of
30 (the April to April CPI) with the contract extension. Sufficient
funds were allocated in the Draft Fiscal Year 1999 -2000 transit
budget for this extension to the Agreement, and there is no need
for an additional allocation if this Agreement extension is
approved. Federal law requires that contracts such as this
periodically be let for competitive bidding. During the one -year
extension period, staff will prepare and distribute a Request For
Proposals (RFP) for the new service agreement for the City's fixed
route system.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Council approve exercising a one -year
extension to the Agreement and direct staff to execute a letter of
extension.
