MOORPARK CITY COUNCIL --
AGENDA REPORT 7:D-.5.!
TO: Honorable City Council
r
FROM: Nancy Burns, Senior Management Analyst
DATE: January 20, 2004 (CC Spec. Mtg. of January 21, 2004)
SUBJECT: Consider Rescinding Authorization to Purchase 81
Charles Street, to Enable the Redevelopment Agency to
Purchase Said Property
BACKGROUND
At a Special Meeting of the Moorpark City Council on January 16,
2004, the Council authorized the acquisition of 81 Charles
Street for $337,500.
DISCUSSION
Staff has determined that the acquisition of this property to
encourage the provision and development of affordable housing,
consistent with the goals of the City of Moorpark's General Plan
Housing Element, can be accomplished effectively through the
City's Redevelopment Agency. Sufficient Redevelopment Housing
Setaside funds exist for the purchase of this property by the
Redevelopment Agency, and this use of the Agency's Housing
Setaside funds is consistent with Redevelopment law and the
Agency's housing objectives.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Rescind action taken on January 16, 2004, to purchase 81 Charles
Street, to enable the Redevelopment Agency of the City of
Moorpark to become the purchaser.
