GENOVESE City Treasurer TO: FR OM : DATE M00R1F—,,ckRK MEMORANDUM The Honorable City Council Steven Kueny, City Manager { May 16, 1986 ffEM IOH SUBJECT : 1986 -'87 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (CIP STEVEN KUENY City Manager CHERYL J. KANE City Attorney RICHARD MORTON Director of Community Development R. DENNIS DELZEIT City Engineer JOHN V. GILLESPIE Chief of Police At the May 5, 1986 meeting, the City Council authorized preparation of the necessary documents and field review for the 1985 -186 (1st year) slurry seal and overlay projects. It is apparent that the 1986 -'87 (second year) overlay projects and another year of slurry seal could be combined with the first year's program for implementation at the same time as year one during the summer months of 1986. An economy of scale will be achieved on engineering services and should be obtained on construction costs as well. The streets previously approved for overlay in the 1986 -'87 CIP are: 1. Sarah Ave. - Millard to Harry - $16,000 2. Second St.. - Moorpark Ave. to Moorpark-Rd.. - .$64,000 When the City Engineer presents his recommended priorities for slurry seal of streets, the City Council can designate that the equivalent of two years of streets be sealed. The previously approved CIP included $77,000 each year for the slurry seal program. RECOMMENDED ACTION 1. Authorize implementation of the 1986 -'87 overlay and slurry seal projects in conjunction with the 1985 -186 projects. 2. Direct City Engineer to present a revised proposal for inclusion in the previously approved authorization. 799 Moorpark Avenue Moorpark, California 93021 (805) 529 -6864
