Our Special Olympics Equestrian Training Program is operated by Pete and
Opal Peters of Peters Arabian Stables in Moorpark. The team consists of
fifteen mentally handicapped students who train weekly with the assistance
of ten volunteer certified coaches. Our team has competed this season in
an invitational competition in Santa Barbara in November and at State
Special Olympics Equestrian Championships at Lanterman Development Center
on March 21st. We have recently placed second in the Equestrian Division
of the Conejo Valley Parade on May 2!
The Ventura County Special Olympics Equestrian Team is pleased to announce
that we will be hosting our first County Equestrian Event on Saturday,
July 18, 1987, at the Ventura County Fairgrounds! Special Olympics
Equestrian Teams throughout our State have been invited to participate in
this Southern Sectional Equestrian Competition. It will be co- sponsored
by the Moorpark Rotary Club and Equestrian Trail Incorporated Corral
No. 37 of Thousand Oaks.
We need your support to help make this program a success for our Special
Equestrians. We are asking for donations for class sponsorships for the
horseshow. A class can be sponsored by your club or business in the
following way:

opportunities to develop skills to express courage and sportsmanship and
to experience joy and participation in sharing of gifts and friendships
