JULY 5TH CONSTITUTIONAL BICENTENNIAL BASH -
REQUEST FOR APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS
The Constitutional Bicentennial Committee is in the process of planning a program
to celebrate the Constitution of the United States' 200th Birthday. The theme
of the program will center around events and activities of the period. Participants
for this event will be encouraged to bring a blanket and basket lunch and spend
an afternoon enjoying planned games and entertainment. The Committee is
currently active in obtaining prizes for the games and contests.
The program is scheduled for Sunday, July 5, 1987, at the Community Center
and will run from 12: 00 noon to 4: 00 p. m . In order to insure the program's
success, the Committee is requesting City Council to appropriate a budget of
$2, 000 in order to cover any costs the Committee may incur. While it is hoped
most of the prizes and entertainment will be donated, there are some areas
which we may be required to expend funds.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Council appropriate a budget of $2,000. These funds can be appropriated from
the existing Recreation Special Activities Acct. #148 -995, which has a balance
of approximately $3,000. Staff does not anticipate any further Special Activities
expenditures prior to June 30, 1987.
ACTION
Approve the recommended action.
