GENOVESE City Treasurer Staff was asked by members of the Council to investigate the costs involved to obtain pins fashioned after our City seal. It was felt the pins would not only identify Councilmembers, Commissioners and staff, but could also be presented to citizens as tokens of the City's appreciation for service to the City. The price survey considered two sizes of pins (3/411 and 7/811); two different types of backing (military and tie tack) ; two different quantities, asked for polykote covering, and also inquired into layout charges. The results of the survey are shown on the attachment. S. R.E . Industries appears to be the lowest bidder, and a member of staff has worked with them before. Since our City seal has several colors in it, staff suggests the 7/8" size over the 3/4" size. The tie -tack backing is spring - loaded and tends to remain fastened more than the military backing. For the cost difference of $155 and an additional 200 pins, it might be adviseable to order 500 pins. The polykote coating is a clear epoxy covering which protects the pins surface. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Direct staff to order 500 pins in the 7/8" size with the tie -tack backing from S.R.E. Industries at a cost of $500.
