SUBJECT: COMPLAINT OF EXCESSIVE NIGHTTIME NOISE EMANATING
FROM METAL BELLOWS FACILITY, 200 SCIENCE DRIVE
BACKGROUND
On April 9, 1987, Linda Bins of 749 Sir George Court called
the City to register the above complaint. The staff immediate-
ly contacted the Sheriff's Department who has been following
up on the complaint since. The source of the noise emanates
from mechanical equipment being operated at night because
an energy savings that results from nighttime operation.
The equipment is involved in the manufacturing of ice which
is used to cool, or insulate other equipment.
Metal Bellows had already at the time of the complaint begun
to contact for an enclosure of the equipment that would sub-
stantially muffle the noise. Apparently, nighttime field
observations of the noise problem produced a variety of opinions
as to how significant the problem really is.
Resolution of the problem is underway. Staff will advise
the Council when the problem has been resolved.
