GENOVESE City Treasurer DATE : May 6, 1987 SUBJECT: Request to Proclaim May as "Better Hearing and Speech Month" I received a request from Mr. Neuschotz of Beltone Hearing Aid Center to proclaim the month of May 1987 as "Better Hearing and Speech Month ". Since Mr. Neuschotz' request affords an opportunity to keep our citizenry better informed, I have prepared the attached proclamation for presentation at tonight's meeting. Mr. Neuschotz will be present to receive the proclamation. WHEREAS, it is estimated that as many as 20 million Americans have measurable hearing impairments; and WHEREAS, hearing loss is one of the nation's most common disabilities; and WHEREAS, observance of "Better Hearing and Speech Month" will alert our citizens to the need to follow common sense hearing health procedures; and WHEREAS, observance of "Better Hearing and Speech Month" will remind our citizens to get an annual hearing examination. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Moorpark does hereby proclaim the month of May "Better Hearing and Speech Month" in the City of Moorpark. DATED this 6th day of May, 1987.
